Inside US TV presenter Savannah Guthrie’s little-known life in Australia – as she begs captors to return her missing mother Nancy

This week, Savannah Guthrie, a well-known TV personality in the United States, has been in the news because her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on January 31st.

Savannah Guthrie, 54, of The Today Show, is working closely with police and the FBI to locate her mother, who authorities now suspect has been kidnapped.

With the investigation still ongoing, more information is coming to light about Savannah’s previously private life in Australia.

The journalist was born on December 27, 1971, at Sandringham Hospital in Melbourne, close to where her parents, Charles and Nancy, lived in Beaumaris.

She’s the baby of the family, with an older sister, Annie, and an older brother, Camron. Both Annie and Camron were born in the United States.

Around 1970, Charles and Nancy relocated to Victoria when Charles’s job with Phelps Dodge, a mining company from Phoenix, Arizona, required it.

Savannah’s father worked as a mining engineer and was thought to be part of a project developing new ways to dig up copper.

For three years, Nancy focused on raising her children, including Savannah, at their home in Beaumaris. Then, the family returned to the United States.

When Savannah was two years old, her family returned to Tucson, where her mother, a former lawyer, grew up and she spent the rest of her childhood.

The TV star traveled back to Australia in 2015 to reconnect with her birthplace and celebrate Mother’s Day with her mother, Nancy.

In a new video released on Wednesday, Savannah made a heartfelt plea to those holding her mother, Nancy, asking them to show proof that Nancy is still alive.

Nancy was last seen by her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, who drove her to her large property in Arizona last Saturday evening. She hasn’t been seen since.

In a new Instagram video posted Wednesday night, Savannah and her siblings spoke lovingly about their mother while asking for help bringing her home safely.

Savannah described her mom as a wonderfully kind and loving person, full of goodness and light. She also said her mom is funny, energetic, and smart, and that her grandkids absolutely adore her, always showering her with affection.

Savannah expressed her gratitude to everyone who had sent prayers and support, and then shared details about how fragile her mother, Nancy, had been before she went missing.

At 84 years old, her health is very delicate, and she lives with constant pain. She desperately needs medication to survive and ease her suffering, she explained.

With her sister Annie and brother Camron by her side, Savannah spoke directly to those who might be holding her mother, clearly stating for the first time that they may be demanding ransom.

We’ve also seen the news reports about the ransom letter,” Savannah stated. “As a family, we’re doing all we can to handle the situation.

Savannah told the people who were threatening to kidnap Nancy that they were willing to negotiate, but first asked for verification that the photos they had of Nancy were real.

It’s easy to fake things online these days, so we desperately need proof that she’s still alive and that you’re holding her. We’re asking you to contact us – we’re prepared to hear what you have to say. She said this, her voice thick with emotion.

Savannah then attempted to speak to her mother.

“Mom, if you’re listening to this, please know you are incredibly strong. You are a beloved daughter of God,” she shared.

We know he’s still with you, even here. Everyone is searching for you, Mom, all over the place. We won’t give up, and your children won’t either, until we’re reunited.

We’re constantly thinking of you, sending our love and prayers, and eagerly anticipating the day we can see you again. We love you, Mom.

Annie and Camron then echoed their sister’s words: ‘We love you, mom. Stay strong.’

The video was simply captioned: ‘Bring her home.’

Nancy was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills, a wealthy area of town. Police found her phone, wallet, and car there after she was reported missing on January 31st.

Investigators also discovered an Apple Watch at the property. It had stopped communicating with the victim’s pacemaker around 2 a.m., leading them to believe that’s when she was likely taken from her home.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m following the story of Savannah and the incredible outpouring of support she’s received. Authorities are now investigating those fans who sent her a huge amount of gifts and mail – this is happening as they look into the circumstances surrounding her mother’s abduction, as reported by the Daily Mail yesterday.

No suspect has been identified and police insist there is no danger to the wider public.

Investigators are still considering the possibility that Nancy was targeted due to her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, being a well-known host on the Today show.
