Rebecca Ferguson shared more information about a fellow actor who yelled at her during filming, while also appearing in a beautiful photoshoot for Harper’s Bazaar magazine on Wednesday.
As a lifestyle expert, I have to say, the Swedish actress absolutely stunned on the cover of this month’s magazine! It was so refreshing to hear her open up about the realities of being in the spotlight and navigating tricky situations, especially when it comes to power imbalances on set. She’s clearly a woman who’s incredibly self-aware and isn’t afraid to be honest about her experiences.
In 2024, the Dune actress shared that a previous co-star had yelled at her on set, leaving her in tears, and she stated she would never collaborate with that person again due to their behavior.
The actress recently discussed how she found the confidence to speak up and navigate challenging relationships with those in charge after what happened.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, she explained that the issue wasn’t with the other person, but with her own inability to speak up. She described the situation as frightening, admitting she didn’t know how to ask for a private conversation at the time.
She continued: ‘Now, I would want to believe that I could have taken this person aside.
Some people feel we’ve gone too far with social awareness, but I actually think it’s a positive thing. It’s natural for things to shift dramatically in one direction before settling into a more moderate and balanced position.
During the interview, Rebecca also discussed the difficult and strange aspects of being famous, and how it can feel good to receive recognition.
She explained that many people wouldn’t admit it, but there’s something both amazing and unsettling about working hard without getting noticed. While recognition can feel good and boost your confidence, there’s also a unique satisfaction in simply doing the work, even if it goes unacknowledged.
I sometimes wonder why I don’t get the same attention as celebrities – why there aren’t photographers chasing me or needing to sneak me out of places. But as I get older, I realize how much I have to be thankful for.
She explained that attending events can be awkward because the attention isn’t always shared equally. It’s like walking the red carpet and everything goes quiet if you’re not a major star like Timothée Chalamet or Zendaya.
Rebecca first became well-known internationally for playing Elizabeth Woodville in the BBC’s historical drama, The White Queen, a performance that led to a Golden Globe nomination.
Her strong performance in a play caught the attention of filmmakers, leading to her landing the role of Ilsa Faust in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. This role helped launch her career as a prominent action movie star.
After appearing in Rogue Nation, she returned for Mission: Impossible – Fallout and later films, firmly establishing herself as a prominent figure in Hollywood.
She became even more well-known after appearing in popular films like The Greatest Showman, Doctor Sleep, and Dune.
The actress is now part of the impressive cast for the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, officially called Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. It will be available to stream on Netflix starting March 20th.
She’ll be acting alongside Cillian Murphy, who plays the famous Tommy Shelby, plus Barry Keoghan, known for his role in Saltburn, and Tim Roth, a star of Pulp Fiction.
Rebecca shared her enthusiasm for the new movie, explaining that the decision to join was easy. She was drawn to the raw and troubled nature of the characters, saying that’s exactly the kind of role she’s looking for.
However, she admitted that there is ‘no chance’ her character could do a Brummie accent.
She explained that she couldn’t attempt a Birmingham accent for the role, fearing it would negatively impact the movie.
The March issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK is on sale from February 5.
