People were surprised to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt at a political event in Washington, DC on Wednesday, as he hasn’t been seen much in public lately.
Once known for appearing in major films like The Dark Knight Rises with Christian Bale and Inception alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, the 44-year-old actor now spends his time among lobbyists and influential figures in Washington D.C.
John Lithgow, known for his role in ‘3rd Rock from the Sun’ and recently starring in the ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ reboot with Eddie Murphy, is now using his influence in Hollywood to ask politicians to regulate large technology companies and better protect children online.

He criticized certain companies for repeatedly letting harmful content spread on their platforms, explaining they consistently choose profits over the well-being of the public, including children, and refuse to take action.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt married robotics entrepreneur Tasha McCauley in 2014. McCauley previously led GeoSim Systems as CEO.
The couple has three children: two sons born in 2015 and 2017, and a daughter born around 2022. They’ve chosen to keep their family life private.
The actor spoke about stories he’d heard from parents whose children were negatively affected by social media, pointing to photos shown behind him, a news source reported.
‘I just heard a couple of stories that left me trying to keep myself together,’ he said.
Looking at these photos makes me think of my own children. The damage done to these kids online could potentially have been avoided if major tech companies understood they could be held legally responsible for what happens on their platforms.

Then Don Jon showed a totally different side of him, and then… Snowden. Playing Edward Snowden? That was incredible, he became Snowden. I was obsessed, obviously!
That film preceded a three-year hiatus to focus on family.
He explained to Variety that he stepped away from work for several years to raise his children. When he decided to return to acting, he specifically looked for roles that would be creatively fulfilling and remind him why he enjoys the craft.
He reappeared on screen in 2019 with the film 7500, but then took a break after a family member passed away.
I’ve been following everything he’s done since then, and it’s amazing! He’s been doing a lot of smaller projects and streaming, which I love, but his voice work? Seriously incredible. He was Young Mr. Burns in the new Simpsons movie coming out in 2025, and Jay in that Star Wars: Visions series back in 2021! Can you believe it? And Jiminy Cricket! He is Jiminy Cricket! Oh, and I totally forgot, he was Detective Hardrock in Knives Out back in 2019. He’s just… perfect in everything.
