Honey Don’t! Finds Redemption on Netflix

A year after its initial release, Honey Don’t!, the second film in Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke’s planned ‘lesbian B-movie trilogy’—and starring an actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe—is now available to stream on Netflix. It follows their 2024 film, Drive-Away Dolls.

Ethan Coen’s new film, Honey Don’t, co-written with Tricia Cooke and starring Aubrey Plaza and Margaret Qualley (known from The Substance), has quickly become popular on Netflix. As of February 4th, it’s reached the Top 10, currently holding the No. 10 position, right after the popular movie KPop Demon Hunters.

Chris Evans, famous for playing Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, takes on the role of a cult leader, Reverend Drew Devlin, in the new film Honey Don’t!. Aubrey Plaza plays a police officer named MG Falcone, and Charlie Day and Billy Eichner also star in the movie.

Released in August 2025, the movie Honey Don’t didn’t perform well, earning only $7.4 million globally despite costing $20 million to make. Both viewers and critics disliked it, giving it a 39% audience score and a 45% “rotten” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Honey Don’t! Has a ‘Disjointed Plot’

Despite strong acting from Margaret Qualley and Chris Evans, the movie’s main mystery feels both unclear and uninteresting. The dialogue is predictable and often feels unnatural, and many plot points don’t lead anywhere. While Honey Don’t! attempts to explore more complex themes than Drive-Away Dolls, its inconsistent tone and fragmented plot ultimately don’t come together in a satisfying way.

The film centers around Honey, played by Qualley, who investigates a murder with detective Marty Metakawich (Day). She teams up with MG Falcone (Plaza), and together they become entangled in a dangerous religious cult led by Rev. Drew Devlin (Evans). As Honey delves deeper into the case, she uncovers a disturbing conspiracy involving sex, drugs, and murder, leading to increasingly shocking revelations.

Honey Don’t! is streaming on Netflix.
