I was so bummed to hear that Dave Coulier, you know, Joey from ‘Full House,’ is facing another cancer scare. It’s just months after he finished treatment for non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and he says this new thing is completely different. It’s just awful to think he’s going through this again so soon.
Dave Coulier, best known for playing Uncle Joey on “Full House,” announced he’s now cancer-free after battling two different types of cancer. He was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2024 and later with tongue cancer in December. “I’m in remission from both,” he shared on Wednesday, calling it “quite a journey.”
In November 2024, 66-year-old Dave Coulier shared that he was battling cancer. He explained to People magazine and NBC’s “Today” show that he was diagnosed with lymphoma after getting a bad cold that caused significant swelling in his neck. He described the diagnosis as very difficult. In late March, Coulier happily announced he had finished his last chemotherapy treatment.
In December, Dave Coulier returned to “Today” and revealed he had been diagnosed with a type of cancer called P16 squamous carcinoma at the base of his tongue. He explained the diagnosis came during a routine check-up and clarified it wasn’t connected to a previous health issue. He told Craig Melvin he would need 35 radiation treatments and hoped to finish them before the year ended.
During his interview on Wednesday, Coulier highlighted how crucial it is to find cancer early and shared the difficult side effects of his radiation therapy. He explained that treatment can significantly impact your life, affecting your mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
Television
Actor Dave Coulier, known for his role on ‘Full House,’ is battling Stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and is currently receiving chemotherapy. He described the diagnosis as a very difficult experience.
“I refused to let cancer defeat me,” the actor explained. “I wanted to stay positive and enjoy life, and being surrounded by loved ones was key to that.”
Since sharing his cancer diagnosis, Coulier has emphasized the importance of early detection through tests like prostate exams and mammograms, which can be crucial for survival. He’s also turned his personal experience into a positive by creating Awear, an online store that sells everyday products – including clothing and hygiene items – from brands committed to using safe, non-toxic materials.
Coulier said Wednesday that he will remain vigilant about his health.
He explained to Roberts that even though his cancer is currently in remission, he still feels like it’s always present in the back of his mind.
