CBS News will not be removing Peter Attia as a contributor, despite recently revealed emails he sent to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
On January 28th, Bari Weiss, the Editor-in-chief of CBS News, shared her vision for the network with staff and announced 19 individuals who would be contributing, including Attia.
Two days later, Attia’s name appeared in a newly released group of documents related to Epstein. A doctor trained at Stanford and known for his work in helping people live longer, Attia had emailed with Epstein several times, and those emails included a vulgar conversation about women’s bodies.
In another message, Attia revealed his frustration at being unable to talk about what Epstein did. He wrote, “The hardest part about being friends with you is that your life is so extreme, but I can’t share any of it with anyone…”.
In 2008, Jeffrey Epstein admitted guilt to state charges related to soliciting prostitution, which included a minor. He died by suicide in his jail cell in 2019, roughly a month after being arrested and charged with federal sex trafficking offenses.
Normally, a connection like the one between Attia and Epstein would cause a news network to stop working with someone, particularly if that person isn’t a regular, full-time staff member. Those who appear on-air are generally paid for each appearance.
I’m hearing that Bari Weiss isn’t keen on letting go of Katie Attia, apparently. From what I understand, she’s built her reputation, especially with The Free Press, on speaking out against ‘cancel culture,’ and she doesn’t want to appear as though she’s just reacting to the intense scrutiny surrounding the Epstein case. It seems like she’s wary of being perceived as caving to pressure.
After Paramount bought The Free Press – a publication known for its critical stance on the left – Weiss joined CBS News in October. Since then, she’s become a controversial figure, with some within the network suggesting her decisions, like postponing a “60 Minutes” report about the conditions faced by undocumented migrants in El Salvador, are intended to appeal to President Trump.
CBS News has not publicly commented on Attia’s status.

The editor-in-chief held her first division-wide meeting to discuss the road ahead.
I was really surprised to hear that two companies have cut ties with Peter Attia ever since those files related to Epstein came out. AGI, the supplement company, no longer has him as an advisor, and he’s also left his position as chief science officer at David, the protein bar company. It’s a big change, and I’m curious to see what happens next.
CBS News has decided to remove a “60 Minutes” profile of Dr. Attia that originally aired in October. The segment was planned to be shown again this Sunday as part of a rerun episode – something “60 Minutes” usually does when the Super Bowl is broadcast on another network.
Sources say that even if CBS News doesn’t officially cut ties with Attia, he probably won’t appear on television again. TV news health segments are usually sponsored, and it’s difficult to believe any company would want their ads shown during a segment featuring someone connected to Epstein.
Okay, so I just saw this post from Peter Attia on X. He’s addressing his past connections with Jeffrey Epstein, and basically, he’s apologizing for having any interaction with him at all. He’s very clear that he wasn’t involved in anything illegal and wants everyone to know he never set foot on Epstein’s island. It’s a pretty straightforward statement, trying to distance himself from the whole situation.
I take full responsibility for the situation and deeply regret that embarrassing and inappropriate emails have become public. I understand and accept the embarrassment this has caused me,” Attia stated.
Peter Attia is the author of the popular book “Outlive,” which explores the science of living a longer, healthier life. He also hosts a podcast and runs Early Medical, a company that provides programs focused on healthy aging.
