Apple TV has given fans a first glimpse of Matchbox: The Movie, an action-packed film based on the classic Mattel toy. John Cena will play the main character in the movie.
Following the huge success of the Barbie movie, Mattel is quickly expanding its film universe (often playfully called the MCU) and is now developing a spy thriller based on the Matchbox brand, with Peacemaker’s star taking the lead role.
Sam Hargrave, the director of Extraction and a veteran stunt coordinator for many Marvel films, was the one calling the shots behind the camera.

The movie is scheduled to premiere on the streaming service on October 9th. David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper wrote the screenplay, and this marks Tropper’s return to Apple TV after previously creating the series Your Friends & Neighbors.
This thrilling adventure film centers around a group of longtime friends whose quiet lives are turned upside down by the unexpected return of Sean, a former friend and secretly a CIA agent. When Sean accidentally involves them in a dangerous worldwide mission, the group finds themselves caught up in a chaotic race against time to save the world.

Okay, so John Cena’s in this new movie, and the cast is seriously awesome! Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, and Arturo Castro are all in it with some great supporting actors like Danai Gurira from Black Panther, Corey Stoll who was in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, plus Bill Camp and Golshifteh Farahani. It’s looking like a really fun ride!
Although a third season of Peacemaker isn’t currently in the works, John Cena recently appeared in the well-received Apple TV+ series Pluribus, created by Vince Gilligan, the mind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

I’m so excited about this new show! Rhea Seehorn, who I absolutely loved as Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul, is playing the main character, Carol. She’s a romance novelist and the story is wild – basically, this virus goes around and turns everyone into one happy, connected hive mind… except for Carol and twelve other people who are immune. It sounds really intriguing!
In episode six, ‘HDP’, John Cena makes an appearance as a version of himself who is now connected to a collective consciousness, after a shocking discovery in the prior episode.
Matchbox: The Movie premieres on Apple TV on 9 October.
Pluribus streams on the same platform.
Okay, fellow Swifties, listen up! The latest issue of Living Legends magazine just dropped, and it’s all about Taylor! It’s a gorgeous, full-color, 100-page spread, and I just grabbed my copy. You can find it at any newsstand or order it online for only £8.99. Definitely worth it if you’re a fan like me!
