Angie Best recently shared news about her health, letting everyone know she’s started another round of chemotherapy as she continues to fight colon cancer.
The former wife of football icon George Best, and mother of reality TV star Calum Best, has gone to Switzerland to try an alternative cancer treatment. This treatment, called mistletoe therapy, involves using extracts from the European mistletoe plant.
73-year-old Angie has been sharing updates on her health from the hospital in Switzerland, including a positive message she tells herself each morning as she recovers from chemotherapy.
She shared a video on Instagram thanking her followers for their support during a difficult time. She explained she’s trying to gain weight so she can avoid a nutritional supplement that makes her feel unwell, and asked for continued encouragement.
I’d rather handle things organically, the way that feels most genuine. It’s definitely a struggle, but I believe we can overcome it, and ultimately, we will succeed.
If you’re going through a tough time today, remember that things will get better, and you’ll come out on top – we all will. Sending you love and support.
Mistletoe therapy is a cancer treatment used as an alternative to conventional methods, and has been practiced in Europe – especially in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria – for many years.
Some people think it can boost the immune system and help cancer patients feel better, but doctors don’t all agree on how well it works.
The NHS doesn’t currently offer this as a standard cancer treatment because major UK cancer organizations haven’t found enough solid proof that it reliably cures the disease.
It can be used alongside chemotherapy, which is what Angie is currently doing.
Calum, the only son of Angie, shared the heartbreaking news of his mother’s diagnosis in a video posted to social media back in January. Calum is known for appearing on Celebrity Big Brother.
In a recent video, the celebrity shared some upsetting news: their mother was recently diagnosed with cancer. They explained that their mum has always prioritized her health and wellbeing, living a fit and active life.
She’s always prioritized her overall well-being – looking after her physical health, mental state, and spiritual side. However, cancer can affect anyone, regardless of their lifestyle.
It doesn’t discriminate based on background, lifestyle, or health habits. And now, it’s affecting my mother directly.
Calum shared that he hasn’t cried for years, but he’s been experiencing a lot of ups and downs emotionally since his mother was diagnosed with an illness.
‘My mum has been diagnosed with colon cancer that has spread to her liver,’ he explained.
To make progress, we require specialized medical attention and experts who can provide the necessary care. It’s difficult to admit, but I simply can’t afford to continue covering these costs by myself.
The reality TV star created a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for his mother’s specialized medical care. He explained that even a small donation would make a difference in getting her the treatment and care she needs.
