A new version of the popular 1990s thriller, Cape Fear, is coming to theaters soon, and we now have a release date and a first glimpse. The original Cape Fear, released in 1991, starred Robert De Niro as a dangerous criminal who gets out of prison and tries to get revenge on the lawyer who convicted him.
The Martin Scorsese film is actually a second remake. The original movie, from 1962, featured Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum, and both films are based on the 1957 novel The Executioners.
A new Apple TV series starring Academy Award winner Javier Bardem, Amy Adams (from Sharp Objects), and Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring) is coming soon! The first two episodes will be available on Friday, June 5th, with six more episodes released weekly through the end of July.

The upcoming remake of Cape Fear will center around Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson), a happily married couple who are both lawyers.

Their peaceful lives are about to be shattered by the release of Max Cady (Javier Bardem), a dangerous criminal they helped imprison, who is now seeking revenge.
Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are executive producers on the upcoming remake. Nick Antosca, known for his work on Candy, is the showrunner and creator.
The film features a strong cast, including CCH Pounder, known from The Naked Gun; Joe Anders from Lee; Lily Collias of Roofman; Jamie Hector, who appeared in Ballard; Malia Pyles from Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin; and Anna Baryshnikov of Love Lies Bleeding.

One IMDb user praised the 1991 film as a standout thriller of the 1990s, stating that fans of horror and thrillers would likely find it enjoyable.
One reviewer called it “the great un-American classic,” praising its intense and thrilling nature, and most professional critics also gave it favorable reviews.
When it was first released, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution described the film as frightening, graphic, and genuinely unsettling. More recently, The Times praised the story’s gritty nature but highlighted the strong performances from the actors in both the original and its violent remake.
The new series, Cape Fear, will premiere on Apple TV on Friday, June 5th, with the first two episodes available immediately. New episodes will then be released weekly.
