I barely recognized my favorite pop star in a photo they posted today! It was a throwback to the 90s, and they were rocking a seriously bold perm. It was such a fun blast from the past!
The singer posted an update to her Instagram Story, showing off her natural hair color and a noticeably different look than fans are used to.
She looked effortlessly cool in the photo, wearing a short, worn velvet dress and completing the look with dark lipstick.
The musician, who first became known in 2004, encouraged her fans to post their own old photos while talking about her bold style.
This singer released one album, and another Christmas special before changing her career.
Can you guess who it could be?
That’s right, it’s Michelle McManus!
She announced on Instagram that she’ll be discussing memorable fashion moments from the past on BBC Radio Scotland.
I got a perm like they did in the 90s – it’s actually the last time I saw my natural hair color! What about you? Would you be willing to share what your natural hair color is?
Michelle, originally from Glasgow, became well-known after winning the second season of Pop Idol.
Her win sparked controversy, and judge Pete Waterman visibly protested by leaving the show when she was announced as the winner.
Michelle’s first single, “All This Time,” went straight to number one in January 2004, following her win on the show.
Meanwhile her debut album and only, The Meaning of Love charted at a very respectable number 3.
Despite being dropped by her record label, she started her own company, McMannii Records, but she never released another album.
Despite stepping back from her main career, she’s remained visible on television over the past ten years. She’s hosted shows like the Scottish lifestyle program The Hour and Loose Women.
Michelle has been busy with public appearances lately. She recently gave a well-attended performance of her popular songs at the East Kilbride Village Theatre and also served as Chieftain at the Mallaig & Morar Highland Games.
Michelle shared the stage with Robbie Williams in June, performing for an audience of 70,000 people at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.
The Scottish singer performed ‘Relight My Fire’ with the Take That member, 44, after he unexpectedly asked her to join him on stage.
Michelle thanked Robbie for his ‘unconditional kindness’ and gave an insight into her night.
