Millie Mackintosh and Hugo Taylor were once famous faces on the London reality TV circuit, known for their appearances on Made in Chelsea and their glamorous lifestyle of parties and romance.
Their chemistry was undeniable, but so was their drama, breakups, and reconciliations.
Fast forward to today, Millie, 36, and Hugo, 39, could not live a more different life.
Life has changed a lot for my husband and me since we got married in 2018! We’ve gone from enjoying a very social, outgoing life to fully embracing family life with our two little girls, Sienna, who’s five, and Aurelia, four. It’s a beautiful transition, and honestly, the best one I’ve ever made!
After seven years together, the couple has separated privately following a challenging beginning to the year, bringing their marriage to an end.
This story follows Millie and Hugo’s journey from being known as rule-breakers on a TV show to becoming dedicated parents while living their lives in the public eye.
As a lifestyle observer, I remember when Millie and Hugo first caught our attention! It was back in 2010 on Made in Chelsea, and honestly, everyone was instantly invested in their romance. It was one of those couples that just drew you in!
They lived exciting, fast-paced lives, frequently attending glamorous parties and staying out late.
On the reality show, the pair looked like a match made in heaven.
After six months together, Millie and Hugo’s relationship ended when Millie suspected Hugo of having an affair with her close friend and colleague, Rosie Fortescue.
This memorable moment happened during a scene in ‘Made in Chelsea,’ where Millie gave a toast to the couple while everyone was dressed in 1920s costumes at a party.
She raised a second toast, this time directed at her best friend, Rosie Fortescue. She accused Rosie of having an affair with Hugo Taylor while they were both in a relationship and of then lying about it, finishing with a harsh dismissal of her as ‘disgusting’.
However, it turned out that Millie had cheated on him beforehand during a trip to Ibiza.
I was so sad when they broke up back in 2011, but thankfully, she didn’t stay single for long and quickly found someone new. It was good to see her moving on and finding happiness again.
Millie once said she’d always have feelings for Hugo. In an interview, she explained, ‘I truly loved him, and that doesn’t just vanish – I constantly need to remember the reasons we couldn’t make it work.’
I believe I’ll always feel a little nervous or excited whenever I see him. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to that feeling.
Millie then became publicly known for her relationship with rapper Professor Green, whose real name is Stephen Manderson.
After seeing her on the cover of lad mag FHM, he made it his mission to get in touch with her.
The couple first stepped out publicly at the 2012 BRIT Awards. A little over a year later, the rapper proposed to them while they were on vacation in France.
Millie decided to leave Made in Chelsea to concentrate on her relationship and explore opportunities as an actress.
Millie explained on Jamie Laing’s podcast, Private Parts, that she left the show because she had started dating someone who wouldn’t be appearing on it.
I was really struggling at the time, especially since the cameras couldn’t capture everything I was going through, and my close friend Caggie had just left the show.
I didn’t feel comfortable with the things I was asked to film because they didn’t feel authentic to who I am. Plus, there wasn’t a clear story for me to portray.
I didn’t want to contribute to unnecessary conflict or be part of something that felt fake. I’d always planned to leave if things stopped being enjoyable and genuine, and that’s exactly what happened.
Meanwhile, Hugo also left the show around the same time because he felt like he had outgrown it.
He explained to The Standard that he initially only signed on for a small role, and that’s all he intended to do.
I’m facing a huge range of possibilities – I could achieve great success, or I could lose everything. However, being on the show has made me complacent and a bit too comfortable.
Millie and Professor Green got married in a grand wedding at Babington House in Somerset in 2014.
However, rumors started spreading that they were getting divorced after having several very public and heated arguments.
Even though they were attending marriage counselling, they announced their split in February 2016, after being married for just over two and a half years.
The couple announced their separation with a joint statement, expressing sadness and regret.
We’ve decided to separate, but we still care for each other very much. We’re ending things on good terms and genuinely wish each other the best.
Millie has been silent about her difficult relationship with the rapper until now, but she’s finally sharing what happened.
Looking back, I realize we were both going through difficult times individually, and maybe we mistakenly believed we could heal each other. It just didn’t work out that way. Instead of helping, our issues actually amplified each other’s, and honestly, it created a really unhealthy dynamic. I shared this recently on my ‘Getting There’ podcast, and it’s something I’ve had to really reflect on.
Meanwhile, Hugo was in a relationship with Natalie Joel before they split in 2015.
Millie and Hugo got back together shortly after Millie’s divorce from Professor Green was completed.
Okay, so there was a bit of a public reaction when I started dating my ex again so soon after discovering he’d been unfaithful. People definitely had opinions, and it wasn’t all positive, let me tell you! It just goes to show, even when you’re trying to navigate your personal life, everyone seems to have something to say.
Millie and Hugo have fueled rumors of a reconciliation after sharing photos of themselves together on Instagram, including a picture of them kissing during Hugo’s 30th birthday celebration.
Rumors of a breakup surfaced in 2017 after the couple got back together, but they quickly dismissed them by moving in together and showing everyone how happy they were.
Hugo proposed to Millie during a romantic trip to Mykonos, Greece, that year.
Her vintage flower halo engagement ring was a unique design that caught the eye.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Queensmith Master Jewellers valued Millie’s ring at £30,000-£40,000.
They went on to say ‘I do’ at an official legal ceremony at Chelsea Town Hall in June 2018.
The celebration continued with a large party at Whithurst Park, the West Sussex estate belonging to Hugo’s uncle, and many of their fellow reality TV stars were there.
Rosie, whom Millie previously accused Hugo of cheating on her with, was one of the bridesmaids.
For their first wedding anniversary, Hugo wrote Millie a heartfelt love letter. She loved it so much she framed it and shared a photo of it on Instagram, along with his sweet words: ‘I am so proud of you.’
Over the past year, you’ve shown me the true meaning of love. Your strength, kindness, and generous heart have made our marriage better than I ever imagined.
You’ve guided us through some really tough challenges with strength and bravery, and we’ve come out stronger than I thought possible. I’ve learned from you the importance of never giving up on building a life together.
I promise to cherish you for the rest of my life, always work to keep our relationship as joyful as it is now, and consistently be there for you, giving you everything you deserve.
Then, in November 2019, Millie and Hugo announced they were expecting their first child.
Mille shared the happy news with her Instagram followers, posting a picture of her baby bump and writing, ‘We’re so excited to be expecting a baby!’
In May 2020, she gave birth to a ‘very healthy’ baby girl.
The happy parents shared the wonderful news with Hello! magazine, announcing the birth of their baby girl. She arrived on Friday, May 1st, at 1:21 PM, and weighed a healthy seven pounds.
‘We are eternally grateful to the doctors, nurses and midwives for taking such good care of us.
Both Mum and the baby are doing great, and we can’t wait to bring our daughter home and enjoy time together as a family.
The following year, the couple announced the arrival of their second baby.
Millie, a new mother, shared a beautiful photo from her hospital bed on Instagram to announce the happy news.
‘Welcome to the world Aurelia Violet Taylor,’ she said.
Millie stopped drinking in the summer of 2022 after realizing she had developed an unhealthy reliance on alcohol.
She’s openly discussed starting to drink heavily when she was young, while away at boarding school. She used alcohol as a way to deal with homesickness, being bullied, and feeling insecure.
Last year, the reality star shared her path to getting sober with the release of ‘Bad Drunk’. The project details her work to overcome past shame and break unhealthy patterns.
Millie explained that after starting on Made In Chelsea at age 21, her drinking increased, especially after receiving online criticism about her looks, which led to anxiety and panic attacks.
Millie shared that she used to drink to excess, admitting she had a tendency towards addiction, and described the turning point that led her to stop drinking.
She told Women’s Health UK that she had to give up alcohol completely, explaining she wasn’t able to stop at just one drink.
When asked if she considered herself an alcoholic, she responded that it really depended on how someone defined the term.
I didn’t drink regularly, but when I did, I wanted to drink to excess – to keep going and going and going.
I understand that giving in to this desire is harmful to my well-being, and it’s better for me to avoid it altogether than to allow myself even a little bit.
Millie shared that she struggles with alcohol use disorder and talked about how drinking habits exist on a spectrum – not everyone who drinks heavily is necessarily an alcoholic.
She admitted she has a tendency towards addiction, stating she believes she had an alcohol use disorder.
There’s a group of people who aren’t necessarily alcoholics, but consistently drink more than they intend to.
The TV star shared the story of when she realized she needed to stop drinking and get sober.
She explained that a severe panic attack, experienced while hungover, was the turning point that made her decide to stop drinking for good.
‘And it’s now been three and a half years.’
Millie also revealed how she hid her Xanax from Hugo as she reflected her drinking problem.
In a recent interview on the Rise With Roxie podcast, Made In Chelsea star revealed that her excessive drinking created problems and conflict within her marriage.
She explained that when she stopped drinking, they had to address issues in their relationship. Her drinking had caused problems, and it often felt like she was constantly playing catch-up with her partner.
She explained that she kept her Xanax use a secret from him – he wasn’t aware it was happening.
I kept my drinking a secret, but it definitely led to a lot of arguments. By the end, I realized it was seriously hurting the relationship, and it was just constant drama.
Millie shared that she and her partner were working on their relationship after she dealt with her struggles with addiction, but they have since broken up.
The couple reportedly separated quietly earlier this year after facing some challenges.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m hearing from those around the couple that they’re really focused on being great parents to their kids, and that’s what matters most to them right now. They’re dedicated to co-parenting and making sure their children are happy and well-cared for, and that remains their biggest priority.
Millie and Hugo have separated and decided to go their separate ways, according to a source.
After knowing each other for a long time, they recently had some difficult conversations about their future and have decided to separate. It’s the best choice for both of them.
Their children and family are the most important things to them, and they never wanted to get divorced…
Right now, they’re figuring out what it would be like to live separately and how they’ll share the responsibilities of raising their young children.
The beginning of the year has been very challenging, and they’re hoping to continue dealing with things privately.
