Psychological Thriller ‘The Exit 8’ Finally Secures U.S. Release Date

As a huge cinema fan, I’m really excited about this! One of the most talked-about video game adaptations lately, Exit 8, is finally coming to the US. It’s based on a fantastic psychological horror game from 2023, and it absolutely blew audiences away when it first premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. After scaring viewers in Japan, we in the States are finally getting a chance to see what all the hype is about – and I can’t wait!

Neon has announced that Exit 8 is headed to theaters nationwide on Apr. 10, 2026, following its release in Japan last August. Directed by Genki Kawarmura (A Hundred Flowers), the film follows a man who gets stuck in an endless, sterile subway passageway, where overseeing the smallest of anomalies could take him back to the very beginning. The thrilling, horrifying experience is based on the indie video game of the same name, which had players try to escape a similar circumstance. The cast features Kazunari Ninomiya, Yamato Kochi, Naru Asanuma, Kotone Hanase, and Nana Komatsu. Read the official synopsis:

I’m completely captivated by this movie, which is based on the incredibly popular game! It centers around a man, played by Kazunari Ninomiya, who finds himself stuck in this never-ending, super-clean subway tunnel. His only goal? Find Exit 8. The rules are deceptively simple: pay attention to everything, and if something seems off, turn around! Otherwise, keep going. But one tiny mistake, one thing missed, and he’s back to square one. I’m on the edge of my seat wondering if he’ll ever actually escape this endless hallway – it’s so gripping!
