Alicia Silverstone saves life of pregnant dog and her 12 puppies hours before scheduled euthanasia

Alicia Silverstone rescued a dog and her twelve puppies from a San Bernardino animal shelter just before they were scheduled to be euthanized because of a lack of space.

About six weeks ago, the 49-year-old actress, known for her role in ‘Clueless,’ shared a sad Facebook post with Mike Arms, the CEO of Helen Woodward Animal Center. She explained to NBC 7 San Diego that the animal’s face was so sweet, she immediately thought of reaching out to him.

Arms quickly gathered his team at the Rancho Santa Fe Center to help a pregnant dog. She gave birth to 14 puppies almost immediately after they arrived, but sadly two of them didn’t survive.

The terrier mix was named Noel because she was born around Christmas time. Her puppies each received a name inspired by the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”: Drummer, Piper, Lord, Lady, Maid, Swan, Goose, Ring, Calling Bird, French Hen, Turtle Dove, and Partridge.

Silverstone remarked that it was remarkably coincidental that she went into labor on the very day her life was threatened.

Despite knowing she’s leaving for Europe in three weeks, the two-time Emmy nominee couldn’t help but foster four adorable dogs after visiting the HWAC shelter with her 14-year-old son, Bear Blu Jarecki, on Saturday.

‘I would have taken them all if I could!’ Silverstone gushed on Instagram Monday.

Yesterday was completely consumed by newborn care – endless diaper changes, feeding, and making sure everyone stayed warm and healthy. It’s unbelievably cute, but also totally chaotic with everything else I have to do. I’m hoping it was just a particularly exhausting first day!

The California woman, who follows a vegan lifestyle and feeds her rescue dogs a plant-based diet, used her social media platform on Monday to encourage her 10.4 million followers to consider adopting some incredibly cute foster puppies.

‘Just look at these faces. How can you say no?!’ Silverstone pleaded.
