Everyone has their favorite couple in Bridgerton, and with season four now available, we decided to rank them for you. We considered how well they connected, the intensity of their longing for each other, and how their stories fit into the bigger picture. But remember, it’s just our opinion – you might disagree!

8. Daphne Bridgerton and The Duke
We should acknowledge the original Bridgerton couple – they were our first glimpse into the captivating world of Shondaland’s historical drama and completely hooked us over the 2020 Christmas season.
After being named the season’s diamond by Queen Charlotte, Daphne Bridgerton created a plan to pretend to court Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings. This arrangement benefited them both: Daphne hoped to become even more attractive to potential husbands, and the Duke, who avoided emotional connections, wanted to discourage unwanted advances from London’s eligible women.
What to Read Next
It’s no surprise they fell in love. Their relationship, though somewhat old-fashioned and even problematic at times, really defined the romantic tone for everything that followed, especially with their intense chemistry.

7. Francesca Bridgerton and John Stirling
John Stirling, Earl of Kilmartin, and Francesca Bridgerton’s love story was gentle and understated. Their connection didn’t involve grand gestures or major conflicts, and that simplicity actually made their eventual happiness feel even more genuine and touching.
Francesca hasn’t had a chance to be the central love interest yet, but many viewers connected with how she handles relationships. We’re optimistic about her role in the show, though we’re not ranking her very high right now. We predict her connection with Michaela will be a major turning point, both for Francesca and the audience, and will likely overshadow her current relationship with John.
Francesca’s story this season is hinting at a struggle with societal expectations around relationships. While she cares for her husband, it’s clear she’s unfulfilled and not fully satisfied, suggesting a deeper longing.
Give us that sapphic season immediately.

6. The Mondrichs
This couple is a cornerstone of the Bridgerton series, having been featured since the very beginning in season one, and their relationship continues to thrive in the current fourth season.
The Mondrichs are a close and encouraging family. Throughout the story, they’ve become more involved and influential, consistently offering each other support and guidance.
Alice Mondrich’s character is gaining prominence and she’s now a potential companion to Queen Charlotte. We’re excited to see her role expand, with storylines that explore more of her life beyond her marriage, similar to what we’ve seen with other female characters.

5. Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton
She’s Lady Whistledown, he’s just Ken Colin.
Honestly, I loved the Polin season because it finally let Penelope blossom! It was so satisfying to watch Colin finally realize what we, the audience, had been seeing all along – that she’s amazing.
The carriage scene in season three of Bridgerton has quickly become a fan favorite – and it brilliantly highlighted female pleasure and empowerment. Viewers were thrilled to finally see Penelope enjoying happiness and success.

4. Violet Bridgerton and Lord Marcus Anderson
She is the tea. The garden has been tended. Do we need to throw out any more metaphors around here?
The head of the Bridgerton family has been hoping for a romantic evening with Lord Marcus Anderson, and season four didn’t disappoint!
There’s a clear and exciting connection between these two characters. It’s wonderful to see the mother prioritizing her own happiness and having the courage to pursue what she wants. Lord Marcus stands out as a thoughtful and understanding man, able to sense his partner’s feelings and offer support.
This storyline also shows how Bridgerton is growing in its ability to portray complex relationships. This mature couple receives the same careful development, depth, and passion as the show’s younger characters.

3. Queen Charlotte and King George
Okay, so yeah, Queen Charlotte was a spinoff, but honestly, it felt like a really important piece of the Bridgerton story. Since Charlotte and George are so central to everything, this limited series was a fantastic addition – it was just beautifully done and really expanded the world we already loved.
The show finally explained how the king and queen first fell in love, and gave viewers a deeper understanding of Queen Charlotte’s personality. Their early romance felt just like those of the popular couples in Bridgerton, and fans quickly became captivated by their heartbreaking story.

2. Sophie and Benedict
Let’s be clear: the phrase “Be my mistress” is deeply wrong and cannot be excused.
Benedict and Sophie have breathed fresh life into Bridgerton, which is exactly what the show needed for its fourth season (as we noted in our review). This season uniquely explores the lives of those working below stairs, adding depth to the narrative and highlighting the limited choices available to women during the Regency era. Sophie, despite being a maid, is a strong, confident, and captivating character.
Benedict’s character is notable as the first openly queer main character in the show. Season four continued to explore his bisexuality, and it’s important to remember that falling in love with a woman doesn’t change who he is.
Sophie and Benedict’s romance in Bridgerton, though reminiscent of Cinderella, feels a little different from the show’s other love stories and offers a fresh take on tradition.

1. Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton
No one could have been a better choice. The connection between them was electric and their desire for each other was overwhelming.
The first time we saw the eldest son rise from the water, soaking wet in a white shirt, he basically set the standard for dramatic character transformations in Bridgerton. And the way he told Kate she both annoyed and captivated him remains the most memorable declaration of love from any of the show’s main couples.
Okay, so Simone Ashley as Kate? Seriously amazing. She was strong when she needed to be, but also had this really sweet, vulnerable side. Honestly, her character was everything, and I totally get why Anthony fell for her – we all did, really!
The fact that fans keep asking for more scenes with Kate and Anthony speaks volumes about how much they love the couple.
Bridgerton is streaming on Netflix, and part 2 of season 4 will arrive on 26 February.
