Jesy Nelson is open to the possibility of a Little Mix reunion and has resolved her differences with Simon Cowell, especially after becoming a mother to her daughters.
The 34-year-old singer, who became famous on The X Factor, reportedly hadn’t spoken to her former bandmates – Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock – for six years after leaving the group.
In 2011, Simon Cowell created the group on the ITV show, and they made history as the first band to win the competition.
They achieved five number ones and sold an incredible 75million singles worldwide.
After nine years with the group, Jesy left, citing the difficulties of fame and her battles with mental health as the reasons behind her unexpected departure.
Now she has said she is open to reconciling with the women and making a Little Mix comeback.
After her twins were diagnosed with the serious condition Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, the mother of two says it completely changed her perspective.
Jesy said: ‘They have healed a part of me which I never thought was possible.’
She told The Sun that a reunion is possible, but things have changed. ‘We’re all mothers now, and I can’t say for sure what the others think,’ she explained, ‘but I imagine we all have different perspectives now.’
I believe that happens naturally as we age, but you never know what the future holds. I have a lot of love for them, and that will never change.
‘So never say never [to a reconciliation].’
Jesy has resolved her differences with Simon, 66, after he contacted her to offer support when her daughters received a difficult medical diagnosis.
She said: ‘He called me, he reached out to me when I had the girls’ diagnosis.
We had a lengthy conversation where we discussed his new Netflix series. I watched it and really liked it.
Jesy’s time in Little Mix will be explored in a brand new Amazon Prime Video documentary series.
This documentary series details a very difficult period in her life, following her path to becoming a mother. It shows the challenges she faced during pregnancy, including a condition called Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, and culminates in the birth of her twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe.
The trailer begins with Jesy looking out at an empty stadium, explaining she’s never discussed this before. She shares that her passion was always to entertain, and it initially felt incredible, but that feeling didn’t last. She admits she’s always been silent about it and ultimately made the decision to leave.
The video shows a collection of clips from Perrie Edwards’ time in Little Mix, including moments where she’s visibly upset and unable to participate in dance rehearsals.
‘I’ve really struggled keeping all of this in… Now I’m ready to tell my side of the story.’
The documentary also shows a heartbreaking scene where Jesy and her former fiancé, Zion Foster, learn from a doctor that their twin daughters have only a 5% chance of surviving until birth.
A new clip from Jesy’s time in the hospital shows her in tears, saying, ‘I hate that my body is failing me’.
Jesy’s mom, Janice, shared her fears about the pregnancy, saying, ‘I can’t bear to think about what would happen if something went wrong now.’ She said this not knowing the challenges that were still ahead.
Jesy said the documentary is so painful to watch following her twins’ diagnosis.
Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is the most serious form of the condition. Symptoms usually start in babies and include very weak muscles, trouble swallowing, and breathing problems.
Jesy is now working to make screening for SMA1 part of the standard newborn blood test (the heel prick test). She’s started a petition to make this happen, so babies can be tested for the condition shortly after birth.
Jesy is pregnant with twins and is sharing her honest feelings about the experience – the happiness, but also the worries and challenges – of expecting two babies.
The series documents Jesy’s challenging pregnancy, including a rare and dangerous condition called Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, and the emotional difficulties she faced.
Jesy is experiencing the ups and downs of pregnancy, with regular hospital check-ups and open talks with family and friends. She’s facing her anxieties head-on and discovering inner resilience along the way, all thanks to the constant love and support around her.
This series isn’t just about her experience as a new mother; she’s also facing her past. She’ll be talking openly for the first time about her difficult decision to leave Little Mix in 2020, the intense pressures of being famous, her struggles with mental health, and the issues that caused controversy.
Before the release, Jesy shared with Amazon that she’s excited to share her journey into motherhood with everyone. She’s looking forward to letting people in as she prepares to welcome her twin daughters, Ocean and Story, into the world.
To be honest, this pregnancy has been really challenging due to the high risk involved. You’ll see all the ups and downs and emotional moments we’ve experienced.
I’m excited to share this new phase of my life with you all as I move forward from the past. I truly hope you enjoy following along as much as we’re enjoying it!
