Spider-Man, Venom and Carnage Team Up to Face New Marvel Villain

When Carnage first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1992, it was a shocking event, unexpectedly uniting Spider-Man and Venom. Now, a new storyline called Death Spiral is bringing another powerful and dangerous killer into the mix – one so terrifying that it will once again force Spider-Man, Venom, and even Carnage to work together.

A new villain called Torment will debut in February’s Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral #1. The story will then continue in the regular monthly Amazing Spider-Man and Venom comics throughout March and April. Fans will learn the full story behind Torment in a special one-shot issue coming out on May 13, 2026.

As a long-time Spider-Man fan, I remember when Carnage first appeared – it actually made Venom seem almost…reasonable! Now, with this new take on the character, Torment is doing the same thing to Carnage. It’s not just another symbiote story; this is something far more disturbing. Seriously, the origin story that Charles Soule and Kev Walker have crafted is genuinely creepy – you might want to keep a nightlight handy when you read it!

New Spider-Man villain Torment explained

I’ve been following the news about the upcoming Spider-Man event, and this new villain, Torment, is seriously intriguing! They’re being hyped up as even more dangerous than Cletus Kasady, the guy who became Carnage. What’s really different is that Torment isn’t a symbiote like Venom or Carnage – they fight with a whip covered in blades! And the most mysterious part? There’s a hint that Torment has some kind of history with Peter Parker himself. I can’t wait to learn more!

It’s safe to say that a team-up with Spider-Man, Venom, and Carnage would be pretty strange. Currently, Peter Parker’s former partner, Mary Jane Watson, is bonded with the Venom symbiote. And surprisingly, the original Venom host, Eddie Brock, is now working with Carnage, tracking down other killers.

Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Death Spiral #1 arrives in comic shops on February 25, 2026.
