Three new characters from past games are now available. The latest update focuses on returning to the core elements of the game.
Okay, so I just watched the TEKKEN 8 Season 3 trailer, and it sounds like the devs are really focusing on rebalancing things. They’re admitting Season 2 didn’t quite hit the mark, and they’re promising to fix that with the upcoming patches. Basically, they’re giving us a fresh start, which is awesome!
So, the big news from the Season 3 reveal is that we’re getting three new fighters in TEKKEN 8 sometime in 2026 – which is awesome! Plus, get ready, because the next competitive season is starting soon, so it’s time to brush up on my combos!
Season 3 DLC characters in TEKKEN 8
TEKKEN 8 Season 3 will introduce four new playable characters. We’ve already been introduced to three of them, and they’re all returning favorites from earlier TEKKEN games.
Kunimitsu, late Spring 2026
Okay, so the very first Kunimitsu was actually in the original two Tekken games. Then, for a while, we didn’t see her. But she came back in Tekken 7, though it wasn’t exactly the same Kunimitsu – it was her daughter, carrying on the family ninja style. She also popped up in Tekken Tag Tournament, which was cool.
Kunimitsu is a ninja specializing in weapons and technology. She also has limited elemental magic abilities. Players recognize her for her quick movements and ability to control space.
Bob, Summer
Fan-favorite Robert Richards, known as Bob, is back in the latest TEKKEN game. He first appeared in TEKKEN 6 and is known for his unique fighting style. Originally, Bob was much thinner, but he intentionally gained weight to become a more powerful opponent without sacrificing his speed.
It worked, and Bob is an agile rushdown fighter with a nice selection of heavy hits.
Roger Jr., Autumn
This character is a kangaroo, and he’s known for being a funny and unusual fighter in the game. He’s actually the son of an earlier kangaroo character, Roger, who first appeared in TEKKEN 2. The story is that Roger had a comfortable life after being taken away, but left his family behind. When the mother of Roger Jr. found out, she divorced him and now fights alongside her son as a team.
During gameplay, players directly control the mother character, with Roger Jr. occasionally appearing to assist with attacks. Roger Jr. fights using a combination of boxing and wrestling, offering both powerful grappling moves and a fast-paced, aggressive playstyle.
A new mysterious character, Winter
A new character will join TEKKEN 8 in Winter 2026 as part of Season 3. We don’t have any details about who this character is yet – they could be a brand new face or someone from another game series.
How to Unlock Season 3 characters in TEKKEN 8
TEKKEN 8 Season 3 will add a new arena and four playable characters. The Season Pass, which unlocks all of this content, becomes available on February 9, 2026.
TWT 2026 starts at Evo Japan
Now that the TEKKEN World Tour 2025 has finished, details about the next official esports competition have been announced.
- The first qualifier of TWT 2026 happens at Evo Japan 2026, from May 1 to May 3.
- The series will continue until the Thaiger Uppercut event in November 2026.
TEKKEN 8 balance in Season 3
A lot of TEKKEN 8 players feel like Season 2 missed the mark. Before the season even launched, professional players were already concerned that the game favored aggressive attacks, particularly with the Heat system. Unfortunately, the developers made these aggressive tendencies even stronger. While some of these changes were quickly rolled back, they still had a significant negative impact on the game’s player base and overall reputation.
The trailer for Season 3 suggests a more streamlined and purposeful direction for the show, promising a better balance and a clearer focus.
The initial response to the reveal of Season 3 has been generally hopeful, but with some reservations. While fans aren’t thrilled that the new characters are all returning favorites, they do seem to like Kunimitsu and Bob. Roger Jr. has received a divided reaction – some find him amusing, but others feel he’s taking the place of a brand-new character for Tekken 8 or a more anticipated addition like Miguel or Julia.
People reacted well to the promises of rebalancing, but most agree we need to see how it actually plays out in the game before getting too excited. A flashy trailer isn’t enough to base expectations on.
