After 14 seasons with Firehouse 51, Joe Miñoso, who plays Joe Cruz, is leaving the show. He’ll make his final appearance in Season 15, marking the end of a long run as one of the show’s original cast members.
The show Chicago Fire first featured Minnie Miñoso as a guest star in its very first episode. He then appeared in nearly every episode of the first season before becoming a main cast member in season two. Now that Miñoso has left the show, only three of the original actors remain: Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, and Christian Stolte, who initially appeared as a guest star in season one.
NBC announced that actor Joe Minoso is leaving Chicago Fire, but he’ll return for a few episodes in Season 15. This will give the show time to finish his character, Cruz’s, storyline.
The departure of Minnie Miñoso follows the announcement that Da’Vinchi, known for his role in BMF, has been cast as a new firefighter on Season 15 of Chicago Fire. Leading actors Taylor Kinney and Miranda Rae Mayo have also recently renewed their contracts and will remain with the show for the near future.
Season 15 of Chicago Fire will have a new showrunner, Victor Terhan, taking the lead behind the scenes.
While changes were happening behind the scenes, the season finale of Chicago Fire left fans with a major cliffhanger. Severide, played by Taylor Kinney, was offered a big decision: take over as the new Chief of Firehouse 51, or become Chief of Fire Investigations. But before he could decide, an urgent call came in, leaving his fate unknown and viewers eagerly awaiting the next season.
On Season 14 of Chicago Fire, Cruz and his wife discovered they were expecting another baby – Cruz was hoping for a son, making three! However, a trip to the hospital revealed a surprising twist: they’re actually having twins, which will be quite a handful.
The crew of Firehouse 51 is facing a much more pressing issue. The emergency call that interrupted Severide’s news led them to a burning storage facility. Inside, firefighters found zero visibility and quickly discovered the roof was about to collapse. At the same time, those outside noticed flames spreading, realizing the fire could quickly become a major disaster if they didn’t contain it.
Chicago Fire isn’t alone – other shows in the ‘One Chicago’ franchise are also saying goodbye to original cast members in the seasons to come.
Chicago Fire Season 15 is scheduled to debut on NBC on Oct. 7.
