The new BBC sitcom Ann Droid, created by Diane Morgan and Sarah Kendall, has quickly become popular with viewers since it first aired on July 17th. It’s funny, quirky, and surprisingly sweet.
Morgan and Sue Johnston charmed audiences with their roles – Morgan played a robotic helper named Linda, and Sue portrayed a woman coping with loss. They made viewers laugh while also touching their hearts.
Sue didn’t want a helper when her son, Michael (Paul Ready), introduced her to Linda. She certainly never imagined becoming reliant on a robot! Okay, so there’s been no official word yet about Linda’s voice – that awesome robotic one! – guiding Sue into trouble again, but honestly, I have a really good feeling Ann Droid will be back for another season. Here’s why I think we’ll definitely see her return.

Although Morgan seemed perfectly suited to play Linda, physically portraying a robot took a toll on her health. She revealed she developed an eye ulcer due to wearing contact lenses and not being able to blink naturally while in character.
She also mentioned in a press release that holding the specific posture required for Linda’s character caused her significant back pain, potentially making it difficult to reprise the role.
So far, neither the show’s creators nor the cast have commented on whether it will return, and silence often suggests things are still moving forward. Luckily, even though the last episode felt like a good ending, there are still many stories that could be told.
So, did Michael actually start dating that secondhand romantic robot? It definitely sounds like something he’d do. More importantly, will he finally get back on his feet and grow as a person after getting divorced?
This character has a lot of potential for development, and we’re eager to explore that. We also want to show more of Sue’s diverse group of elderly friends and how they’re each navigating their later years.
I’m really invested in Sue and Linda’s story! It’s so heartwarming to see Sue rediscovering her joy with Linda by her side, and now I’m just wondering how their relationship will continue to blossom and grow over time. I’m really hoping they keep building a beautiful life together.
This amazing pairing really needs to embrace both wild fun and a bit of delightful chaos, and everything suggests we’re about to see just that.
