Ironhide Game Studio is marking 15 years of Kingdom Rush with an exciting announcement: Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis will include a ‘Classic Mode’ reminiscent of the very first game from 2011. This new mode aims to capture the feel of the original while introducing the next installment in the popular tower defense series.
Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis will launch on September 24, 2026, and revisits the beginning of the story in Linirea. It’s a prequel to the original Kingdom Rush, offering the same challenging strategy gameplay fans love.

Classic Mode lets you play through the Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis story in a way that feels like the very first Kingdom Rush games. You’ll protect Linirea with just one hero, the traditional four types of towers, and skills you already know – without any of the new progression features.

This mode features familiar towers like Barracks, Archer, Mage, and Artillery, along with their standard upgrades and specialized versions. Popular choices such as Ranger’s Hideout, Holy Order, Arcane Wizard, Tesla x104, and Big Bertha are back, and players can once again use the classic Rain of Fire and Reinforcements spells.
Ironhide announced updates to Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis, responding to player feedback. They’ve removed the individual tower leveling system they previously shared, as players were worried it would make the game feel grindy and slow down progress.
Ironhide explained that the recent system didn’t align with the core Kingdom Rush experience – finding creative strategies and winning through clever tower positioning. They’re reverting to a simpler, global upgrade system and completely overhauling the user interface to better reflect the series’ look and feel.
Kingdom Rush originally appeared in 2011 and has become a hugely popular tower defense game series on mobile devices. It began as a simple project made by three friends in Uruguay, but it’s now enjoyed by players all over the globe.
Kingdom Rush 6: Genesis will be released on September 24, 2026, for Android, iOS, and PC. To celebrate the launch, a Classic Mode will be included, and you can sign up now on Android and iOS to be among the first to play!
