After 17 years on BBC Breakfast, Naga Munchetty is moving to host BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast. She’ll take over from Rachel Burden and Rick Edwards in January 2027, and will be joined by a new co-host whose identity hasn’t been revealed yet. Burden and Edwards are leaving the show in December.
Starting next year, Burden will be hosting the mid-morning show on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, after spending 15 years on the breakfast show. Meanwhile, Edwards will be the host of Fighting Talk on Saturday mornings and will also contribute to other programs.
Nagel, well-known to listeners as the host of the weekday mid-morning show since January 2021, has spoken about her move to 5 Live, describing it as an opportunity she couldn’t refuse.
The presenter announced their excitement about joining 5 Live Breakfast in January. They shared that they love the combination of live news, engaging conversations, and connecting with listeners, and believe 5 Live excels at all three.
I’ve truly enjoyed being a part of the BBC Breakfast team for the last 17 years. It’s been a pleasure working with such a talented and dedicated group of journalists – they’re not just fantastic colleagues, but also wonderful friends.
