Bradley Walsh confirms he won’t return to Blankety Blank after announcing he wants acting role

Bradley Walsh, known for hosting The Chase, might be trading quiz shows for acting roles soon. He asked his friend, Chris Chibnall, for a part in the TV series Death at the White Hart, and has hinted that new acting projects are in the works, meaning he’ll be taking a break from hosting Blankety Blank.

Bradley Walsh, who is currently hosting The Chase Around the World on television, has stated he won’t be back for another series of Blankety Blank this year because he’s too busy.

I’m currently working on Gladiators. After a week off, I’ll start rehearsing for the live Prat Pack show,” he explained to Radio Times.

After finishing a month of touring with The Prat Pack, I usually move directly into filming Blankety Blank.

Right now, I’m busy with some unannounced projects. We’re developing a few drama series and doing a lot of writing, so I simply don’t have enough free time at the moment.

What to Read Next

Walsh branded Blankety Blank “one of his favourite shows”, teasing a possible return “next year”.

Honestly, I’m really bummed I haven’t been able to watch Blankety Blank lately. It’s always been one of my favorite shows – it’s just so good!

I find it hilarious and genuinely enjoy working on it in the studio. However, I’m just too busy right now to dedicate any time to it. I usually go to the studio in October, but I’m fully booked for both October and November, so it’s impossible to fit it in at the moment. Perhaps I can work on it next year.

Earlier this month, quiz host Walsh met with Chris Chibnall – the creator of Broadchurch and former showrunner of Doctor Who – at a book event at Waterstones Piccadilly. During their conversation, Walsh asked his friend, whom he’d worked with on Law & Order: UK, for a part in Death at the White Hart.

ITV has adapted Chris Chibnall’s novel into a murder mystery set in Dorset. The story centers on Detective Nicola Bridge, who returns to her hometown after working in the city and quickly becomes involved in investigating the death of a local pub owner.

Bradley Walsh jokingly asked Chris Chibnall if he could play the character Mel, and Chibnall said he’d think about it.

Walsh continued, describing the actor as a compelling personality and someone he’d encountered before. He also mused about reimagaging the character as an older man – perhaps a 66-year-old quiz show host who moonlights as a police officer.

The Chase Around the World airs next on 30 July at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
