With a lot of anticipation building for Dune: Part Three, the new film has high expectations to meet. While the trailers excited many, some viewers might be let down by how little one character appears on screen.
The next movie will continue the story of Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel, Dune Messiah, and is planned to be the last film in director Denis Villeneuve’s Dune series. Villeneuve also helped write the script, just as he did with the previous films.
Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, who play Paul Atreides and Chani, are expected to have major roles in the film. However, other talented actors like Rebecca Ferguson will appear in significant, but supporting, parts.

Rebecca Ferguson will reprise her role as Lady Jessica, even though the character wasn’t a major focus in Frank Herbert’s book. However, many fans were hoping for her to have a more significant part in the movie.
Fans might be let down to learn that Rebecca Ferguson will only have a very small role in Dune: Part Three. She believes her scenes are so brief that audiences likely won’t even notice them, suggesting she’s essentially already filmed everything she’ll do for the movie.
What to Read Next
The actress recently told ExtraTV at San Diego Comic-Con that she has a small role in the upcoming project – a single scene that’s actually already been shown in the trailer. She described the script as fantastic and expressed her excitement to see the finished product.
It’s not surprising that Rebecca Ferguson has a limited role in the new Dune film. She previously mentioned to IndieWire in October that Lady Jessica appears very little in the source material, Dune Messiah.

I wasn’t sure if I was meant to be involved, but Denis had a vision for the project. The script is amazing – there’s a lot of story to unpack! He occasionally contributes directly, and wants to ensure the film stays connected to the original book in meaningful ways.
The movie also stars a fantastic group of actors including Robert Pattinson, Florence Pugh, Jason Momoa, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin.
Dune: Part Three is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 18 December.
