Nike is releasing a new series of Air Force 1 Low sneakers centered around the theme “Family Reunion.” The first three designs each represent a different cultural region. The initial shoe features a white leather design with intricate laser etchings that connect North African patterns to the origins of hip-hop.
The shoe’s design truly comes from the leather itself. Intricate details are focused on the front and sides, featuring arabesque patterns inspired by the repeating shapes found in North African Islamic art and buildings. The design is laser-etched directly into the leather, rather than added on top, creating a clean, all-white look from afar. It’s only when you get closer that you notice the detailed artwork – a subtle touch that encourages a second glance.
Musical inspiration appears in the shoe’s details. Circular designs on the heel tag, side, and inner sole mimic vinyl records and turntable parts, creating a subtle audio theme. The color scheme features Marrakesh Orange – named after the city in Morocco – along with Passion Red and Light Orewood Brown to add warmth against the white background.
I’m really excited about the laser detailing on this shoe! It’s cool to know that Mark Smith was a pioneer with laser etching back in 2003 on the Air Force 1, and now Nike is bringing it back with the new Air Jordan 3 “Laser.” Apparently, it’s inspired by a super rare pair made for Michael Jordan himself! To me, this “Family Reunion” colorway feels like a really thoughtful evolution of a technique the Jordan 3 helped make famous. It’s like they’re honoring the history while still doing something fresh.
