Tyrese Haliburton is paying homage to classic high school basketball movies with his new PUMA Hali 1 shoes. He’s released a special edition inspired by Zac Efron’s character, Troy Bolton, the point guard from Disney’s High School Musical. This continues Haliburton’s trend of using special shoes to showcase his personal interests.
Haliburton consistently uses his shoes to express his personal style, and this “Troy Bolton” edition is no different. It’s not just a simple color scheme; the shoe references a popular piece of 2000s pop culture that extended far beyond basketball. High School Musical, which first aired on Disney Channel in 2006, became a massive cultural hit, turning a fictional basketball player into a well-known figure for an entire generation, making this design instantly appealing to fans of the franchise.
The shoes are instantly recognizable thanks to their design. They feature a vibrant red color inspired by the East High Wildcats uniform worn by Bolton in the movies, and prominently display Troy’s number 14 in white on the tongue. The upper is made with breathable mesh and structured panels, while a large PUMA logo wraps around the heel. The sole transitions from red to orange and finishes with a slightly see-through, milky white rubber.
A release for the PUMA Hali 1 “Troy Bolton” is yet to be confirmed.
