Amazon Prime Video just released a first look at their new show, Carrie, which is based on Stephen King’s famous horror novel. The entire eight-episode series, created and directed by Mike Flanagan, will start streaming on October 7th.
This series offers a fresh take on the classic story of Carrie White (played by Summer H. Howell), a shy teenager who starts public high school after her father’s death. Having been raised in isolation by her strict mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan), Carrie must now deal with both intense bullying and the surprising discovery that she has telekinetic powers.
The new series is a production of Amazon MGM Studios, with Trevor Macy as executive producer. The cast features Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle, and Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, along with Alison Thornton, Thalia Dudek, Josie Totah, Arthur Conti, and Joel Oulette. Mike Flanagan wrote, executive produced, and directed the show, also serving as showrunner. This project continues his frequent work with actor Sloyan.
Carrie premieres globally on October 7 on Amazon Prime Video.
