Marvel announced plans for Black Panther 3 in December 2024, and fans have been eager for updates ever since. Now, the details are finally here – and they don’t disappoint.
At the Marvel panel during Comic-Con, Ryan Coogler announced the title of the next Black Panther movie – Black Panther III – and confirmed it will hit theaters on December 15, 2028. The film will feature David Jonsson as T’Challa’s son, now an adult, who will take on the role of the new Black Panther.
Winston Duke and Letitia Wright appeared on stage with the director and producer, confirming they will reprise their roles as M’Baku and Shuri.
Viewers first met T’Challa’s son, Toussaint, in a post-credits scene from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The role was played by young actor Divine Love Konadu-Sun.
The third movie might take place quite a while after previous events, though it’s still unclear exactly how Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will affect the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline.

Following Washington’s announcement that Ryan Coogler had written a role specifically for him, Coogler officially verified this information in June 2025 during an appearance on the podcast 7PM in Brooklyn With Carmelo Anthony.

We’ll see many of the actors from Black Panther in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, and potentially in Avengers: Secret Wars if their characters make it through. Letitia Wright, who now plays the new Black Panther as Shuri, and Winston Duke as M’Baku, are both confirmed to be appearing.
Black Panther III will be released in cinemas on 15 December 2028.
