
Marvel Studios made a grand return to San Diego Comic-Con’s famous Hall H, and they didn’t disappoint! Fans were anticipating major announcements, and Marvel definitely provided them.
The event started with exciting news about Avengers: Endgame coming back to cinemas on September 25th. Immediately after, they announced a new Shawn Levy-directed Marvel movie planned for release in 2028. But that wasn’t all – another popular MCU actor is joining the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, and a replacement for Chadwick Boseman has been found for a third Black Panther film. All Announcements Made at SDCC 2026
- Kevin Feige teased Avengers: Endgame‘s re-release on Sept. 25.
- Feige said VisionQuest will conclude the “WandaVision trilogy.” It will premiere on Disney+ on Oct. 14.
- Ryan Gosling will star in Marvel Studios’ Ghost Rider. It will be directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine), and it’s planned to hit theaters in 2028. Gosling made a surprise appearance during the panel to celebrate his casting.
- Jon Bernthal presented a new clip from Spider-Man: Brand New Day featuring Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Punisher (Bernthal) taking on the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).
- Peggy Carter actress Hayley Atwell is confirmed to return in Avengers: Doomsday. She reunited with Chris Evans during the panel.
- Robert Downey Jr. and the rest of the Avengers: Doomsday cast were introduced by Feige, and spread out across three different stages.
- Ryan Reynolds made a surprise appearance as an audience member dressed like Gray Deadpool. He joked, “This seems like an awfully expensive way to announce a film. When does it start shooting?” It was not confirmed if he will appear in Doomsday. His gray suit seems to reference his appearance as the leader of X-Force.
- A new poster for Avengers: Doomsday featuring Downey’s Doctor Doom was revealed. All SDCC attendees will be given a poster. It can be seen below.
Avengers: Doomsday Unveils a New Poster
- Doomsday footage was also screened to SDCC attendees. Before the footage played, Pedro Pascal confirmed his Reed Richard and Doctor Doom have a history that will be revealed in the movie. He added that Reed and Doom are “besties.”
- In the footage, Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) describes Victor von Doom, saying she didn’t know how broken he truly was. Doom says that the people who have lived stolen lives must now give them back. Reed then shouts at Doom, “Answer me Victor, did you do this?” Doom then blocks a shot from Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) hammer, and the supervillain raises the sentinels as the clip ends.
- Ryan Coogler comes out to officially announce Black Panther III, which has been dated for a release on Dec. 15, 2028. Coogler will return to direct. T’Challa’s son will be featured in Black Panther III as the new Black Panther, played by David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus). This reveal closed the panel.
