Clash Royale August 2026 Balance Changes: Spirit nerfs, Hero Ability reworks, and major card adjustments explained

Clash Royale is getting a big update in August 2026! The changes will address a few key areas: making Spirits less powerful, adjusting how Hero and Champion abilities function, and trying out new versions of cards like Witch Evolution, Battle Healer, and Void. Overall, the update aims to shake things up and create a more balanced game.

In addition to the definite balance updates coming with the August 2026 season, Supercell has revealed some potential changes they’re still working on. These adjustments might be tweaked before they’re officially released, depending on what players think.

Balance Changes going live with the August season

Fire Spirit, Ice Spirit, Heal Spirit, and Electro Spirit

  • Option 1: Hitpoints: 230 β†’ 217 (-6%)
  • Option 2: Speed: Very Fast β†’ Fast (-25%)

We’re asking the community to help us decide which adjustment to make to Spirit for the August balance changes. We’ll be implementing one of these two options when the new season arrives.

Lowering the health of Spirits would prevent them from reaching and attacking Crown Towers without help, and it would make them much simpler to take down using cards like Archers, Archer Queen, Bomber, Musketeer, and Tesla.

Slowing down Spirits will stop them from easily avoiding attacks by Bowlers, Firecrackers, Hunters, and Magic Archers. This means they’ll stay effective at distracting enemies for a bit longer.

Supercell noticed that Spirits are now very powerful for their low cost of just one Elixir. Players are increasingly using multiple Spirit cards in their decks instead of more traditional support troops and spells. Currently, Spirits appear in 53% of the top-level player decks (Top 200) and 31% of all Ranked matches.

Heroes & Champions

We’re updating Hero and Champion abilities to remove cooldowns for single uses – this applies to all abilities except those used by the Boss Bandit. We feel that abilities with cooldowns don’t add enough to the game to make them worth the added complexity. Because this change will impact some Champions more than others, we’re also planning to strengthen weaker options with buffs.

Goblinstein

  • Doctor Damage: 92 β†’ 135 (+47%)

Goblinstein receives a major damage increase as compensation for the upcoming ability changes.

Little Prince

  • Hit Speed Conservation: 0s β†’ 0.3s
  • Guardienne Damage: 217 β†’ 232 (+7%)

The Little Prince can now keep up his faster attack speed while moving for a short time, making it easier to consistently land more attacks in battle.

Mighty Miner

  • Base Damage: 40 β†’ 43 (+6%)

I’m so excited to hear they’re giving Mighty Miner a little boost! It’s awesome that he’ll now take down Skeletons in just two hits, no matter what level you’re on. That’s a really helpful change!

Bug Fixes

Ronin

  • First Hit Time: 0.3s β†’ 0.4s (+33%)

This update resolves a problem that allowed Ronin to sometimes inflict both parry and regular melee damage with a single attack on enemies who were rushing towards him. Additionally, his parry ability will now work correctly with Golden Knight’s dash, no longer interrupting it.

X-Bow

  • Hit Speed: 0.3s β†’ 0.4s (+33%)
  • Damage: 43 β†’ 58 (+35%)
  • Projectile Speed: 1400 β†’ 1600 (+14%)

We’ve adjusted the X-Bow so it aims more effectively, resolving issues where it missed shots at long distances. While it will attack a little slower, its total damage output will actually increase slightly.

Work in Progress Balance Changes in Clash Royale

So, Supercell’s been tinkering with some potential game tweaks, but they’re still testing them out! Basically, these aren’t set in stone yet – they’ll probably change things around based on how the game actually plays and what we players think. They’re really paying attention to feedback, which is awesome.

Reworks

  • Healing: No longer heals herself

Supercell is updating the Battle Healer card to focus more on damage and less on repeatedly healing troops. While it will be able to deal more damage, it won’t be able to keep troops alive for as long.

  • Hit Frequency: 1s β†’ 1.2s (+20%)
  • 1 Target Damage: 340 β†’ 696 (+105%)
  • 2 – 4 Target Damage: 161 β†’ 294 (+83%)
  • 5+ Target Damage: 76 β†’ 153 (+100%)
  • 1 Target Crown Tower Damage: 48 β†’ 97 (+100%)
  • 2 – 4 Targets Crown Tower Damage: 25 β†’ 51 (+100%)
  • 5+ Targets Crown Tower Damage: 17 β†’ 35 (+100%)

The Void spell is getting an update! It will now deal 5 Elixir worth of damage and be especially effective against tough, long-range enemies such as the Bowler, Executioner, and Hunter.

Nerfs

Hero Goblins

  • Respawned Goblin Count: 3 β†’ 2
  • Deploy Time: 1.3s β†’ 1s (-23%)

Hero Goblins are now among the most powerful swarm units, and this update allows players defending against them a bit more time to prepare.

Archers Evolution

  • Power Shot Damage: 168 β†’ 140 (-17%)

Archers Evolution receives a damage reduction to lower its overall strength in the current meta.

Giant Snowball Evolution

  • Roll Range: 4.5 tiles β†’ 4 tiles (-11%)

The reduced range makes Giant Snowball Evolution less consistent at controlling battles.

Goblin Barrel Evolution

  • Decoy Goblin Damage: 89 β†’ 66 (-26%)

The damage reduction lowers the extra pressure created by Evolution Goblin Barrel.

Goblin Cage Evolution

  • Cycles: 1 β†’ 2

Goblin Cage Evolution will require more time between its strongest defensive rotations.

Mega Knight Evolution

  • Uppercut: Every attack β†’ Every other attack
  • Heavy Troop Knockback: 2500 β†’ 4000 (+60%)

The Mega Knight’s recent update reduces his ability to constantly push back opponents, but makes him much better at knocking back larger, tougher enemies.

Valkyrie Evolution

  • Tornado Damage: 84 β†’ 42 (-50%)

Valkyrie Evolution’s tornado effect receives a damage reduction to lower its defensive value.

Bowler

  • Projectile Range: 7.5 tiles β†’ 7 tiles (-7%)
