Goblinz Publishing, the team behind games like As Far As The Eye and Knightica, has released a new mobile game called Runeborn. This dark fantasy strategic roguelike, developed by iDream Interactive, combines deckbuilding with a unique slot-machine style of combat. It’s currently available on Android, but there’s no word yet on when it will come to iOS.
Build powerful rune combinations and overcome Malakar’s forces
Runeborn is a unique roguelite that blends deckbuilding with slot machine-style gameplay inspired by Clovepit. Rather than drawing cards, you’ll spin columns of Runes to activate spells. Matching runes on ‘Spell Lines’ will hurt your enemies, and you can even lock certain runes in place to help build consistent combos during fights.
As you play, you’ll constantly customize your Runebook by adding, removing, and improving runes to fit how you like to play. You can also make these runes even stronger with amulets and auras. Plus, collecting many Trinklets will unlock powerful combinations, letting you deal more damage, activate runes repeatedly, and change how elements interact.
I really enjoy being able to decide which enemies to tackle first – the game smartly balances risk and reward. Stronger enemies give you more coins for shops, and challenging bosses and elite encounters offer even better loot. It all adds up to a really fun experience, especially with its dark fantasy world, unpredictable runs, and tons of ways to build your character.
Runeborn is now playable on Android devices! You can get it by downloading through the Google Play Store. We’ll share news about the iPhone/iOS version soon.
