Okay, so I just heard that the new movie with Joe Cole from Peaky Blinders, called I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning, is finally coming out in the UK! It’s directed by Clio Barnard, who did The Selfish Giant, and apparently it’s getting a lot of hype – it already won some awards at Cannes, which is awesome.
The story centers around a group of friends from Birmingham who spent their childhoods together on a housing estate, all hoping for better lives. Now in their thirties, we see how things have turned out for them.
However, things haven’t turned out as they’d hoped, and the future they envisioned now feels distant and difficult to achieve.
The movie will be released in theaters on December 4th, right as awards season begins.
Cole stars as Rian, a successful Londoner, and Jay Lycurgo plays Oli, who’s still enjoying a life of parties. Daryl McCormack is Conor, a soon-to-be father hoping to start his own business. Rounding out the cast are Anthony Boyle and Lola Petticrew as Patrick and Shiv, a couple whose relationship is threatened by a potentially devastating secret.
