Liam Gallagher’s very big house in the country: Neighbours welcome reformed hellraiser to his new £4.2million Cotswolds home with an invite to the pub after he promised to not be ‘another divvy celeb’

Even though Liam Gallagher is known for being a bit of a wild child, his new neighbors in the Cotswolds appear to be happy to have him around.

Liam Gallagher, 53, recently bought a £4.2 million house in the village of Coates, near Cirencester. He even shared the news on social media, announcing his arrival as the latest celebrity resident in an area that’s becoming known as a hotspot for famous people.

The countryside, known for its beautiful green hills and charming villages, is now a hotspot for celebrities. Sir David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Simon Cowell, and Ellen DeGeneres all live there, and rumors suggest Beyonce and Jay-Z are about to buy property in the area as well.

Gallagher Jr. was quick to clarify he didn’t want to be seen as another typical celebrity. He assured fans from the Cotswolds, saying he would be respectful and keep a low profile, so they wouldn’t even notice him.

Unlike some of his famous new neighbors, Gallagher already knows and loves the Cotswolds, and he’s often talked about how much he enjoys the area.

Before hitting the road for their reunion tour last year, Liam and his fiancée, Debbie Gwyther, moved out of London and rented a large, impressive country house near Stroud, in Gloucestershire. Reports suggest he was paying around £19,000 each month to rent the 11-bedroom mansion, which was reminiscent of Downton Abbey.

This time, it looks like they’re planning to settle down for good, and they’ve picked a really impressive location.

Liam recently invested £4.2 million in a property that used to belong to football icon Tony Adams, and it appears to be a smart investment.

This expansive estate sits on five beautiful acres of countryside and offers every luxury a celebrity could desire, like a pool, tennis courts, and horse stables.

The property also includes a two-bedroom cottage, which will likely be useful when Noel comes to visit.

The house is located right on the outskirts of the quiet village of Coates, close to Cirencester, a small town with about 500 residents.

This week, when the Daily Mail visited the quiet village, some residents were thrilled to meet the musician, while others admitted they didn’t recognize his name.

Luke Bartels, a 30-year-old drummer and manager at Elliot Arms in Cirencester, said they’d be thrilled if the person visits the pub and they’ll happily buy him plenty of Madri beer.

He said he thinks many people will be excited about the visit. He added that it would be fantastic if the visitor came to the pub, where they’d happily buy him lots of Madri beer. He’d also be very keen on organizing a music jam session if the visitor dropped by the Elliot Arms.

Luke said, “Welcome to a peaceful and relaxing life here. I hope you enjoy your time – it’s sure to be good for local pubs! A big welcome to you.”

Guido Desserafino, the 38-year-old owner of The Golden Farm pub in Cirencester, said he’d love to have him perform there.

I’m a big Oasis fan – I’ve loved them since I was a teenager. As a musician myself, I really appreciate their music. I’d love to have Liam Gallagher come to my pub and try our roast dinner; it’s fantastic!

I’d be thrilled to meet Liam Gallagher and shake his hand. We’d be delighted if he ever wanted to stop by for a quick drink – we’re happy to cater to his preferences.

The area is known for its famous residents, including singer Lily Allen, who reportedly still visits her father, Keith, who lives nearby.

Lily reportedly said she had a romantic encounter with Liam on a flight to Japan while he was still married to Nicole Appleton.

The village hall’s calendar is pretty quiet, with only a few regular events like ‘Coffee, Cake and Chat’ (known locally as ‘The CCC’) and Texan Chilli Night. This means Liam won’t have many chances to cause trouble.

When our reporter visited the village this week, some residents expressed concern about Liam’s arrival, saying they were worried he might host loud, late-night parties. They described being on ‘high alert’ because of this possibility.

A neighbor whose modern house is next to Liam’s new home told the Mail that they’re happy to have him in the village, as long as he doesn’t host large parties.

His pool is in his garden, right next to ours, so we can definitely hear the noise from it here.

This town… it’s just perfect, you know? So calm, so quiet. It’s always been my little slice of heaven. Honestly, the thought of anything changing that, of anything disturbing the peace… it just makes me so anxious! I need things to stay exactly as they are. It’s everything to me.

A neighbor, a woman in her late 50s who wished to remain anonymous, said she believed the man was nice, but admitted she wasn’t a fan of the band Oasis, likely because she’s from a different generation.

I heard from a friend who met him at a pub that he’s a really nice guy. I’m excited to meet him myself soon.

I’ve really enjoyed having Tony and Poppy as neighbors, and I’m sad to see them go. They’re wonderful people, and always respectful of our space.

Another neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed concern about the singer moving in. They said everyone in the area is worried he might throw wild parties and disrupt the peace.

One neighbor, who lives in a large, beautiful house with views of the countryside, joked that the new arrival might have either increased or decreased local house prices by a million pounds.

But some people are hoping for the chance to experience the exciting parties that haven’t happened yet.

Our neighbor, Alex, 52, warmly welcomed Liam, saying he thought Liam would fit right in and hoped he enjoys living here.

I really enjoyed Oasis – their music was a big part of my childhood. And if he’s planning a party, he definitely needs to invite me!

Liam will surely have chances to get to know his new neighbours soon, maybe at the next CCC meeting. It’s held at the village hall on the third Tuesday of each month.

Stephen Makin, a 63-year-old TV cameraman whose wife helps with social events, was hopeful the singer might make an appearance. He chuckled, saying, ‘I doubt Liam will be there, but anything is possible. If he does show up, he’ll definitely be greeted warmly and offered a piece of homemade cake.’

Everyone here is really friendly, so I’m sure he’ll feel right at home. I’m excited to meet him – I’ve been a huge fan for ages! My kids and I all love their music.

Matthew Vaughan, a 35-year-old engineer, also believes Liam will fit in well. He said the team is very friendly and welcoming, and they’ll give Liam the space he needs. If Liam wants to be left alone, everyone will respect his privacy.

Unfortunately, Liam moved to Coates after the village’s Texan Chilli Night, which was held at the hall on Saturday.

One of the event organizers said that the concert would have been perfect for the band Oasis, especially Liam Gallagher. They believed he would have really enjoyed the night and appreciated the chance to connect with people from the local community.

Let me tell you, we recently had the best time! There were around sixty of us, and the atmosphere was just electric. We enjoyed a fantastic meal, and then danced the night away to a local DJ – though, sadly, no Oasis made the playlist. It was a truly memorable evening!

Chris, a 70-year-old retired cleaner from the local hospital, said she was delighted that Liam had chosen Coates and hoped his arrival would bring some excitement to the area.

She said she’s really excited about Coates moving in and thinks it will be great for him. While she anticipates some fun, she doesn’t expect him to cause much trouble, as he’s matured a lot recently and she believes this living situation will be good for his continued growth.

We both love dogs, and luckily, this area has some lovely walking trails. It’s really peaceful here – you can walk for miles without seeing many people. I’m hoping to bump into him when I’m walking my dog, Bert. I think we’d get along great, despite him being from Manchester and me being from Leeds.

Everyone in the village is really pleased about Liam moving in. It’s got everyone buzzing with excitement! He probably already knows, having likely visited before, but it’s a very peaceful and quiet place to live.

The village is very isolated – there’s no pub, no store, and the bus service is limited to just three buses daily, and even that’s not always reliable. But that’s not a concern for him, anyway.

Instead of focusing on a lively social life, Liam’s history of buying property and dealing with planning issues is likely a better sign of how he plans to spend his time in the Cotswolds.

Liam owns both a country house and a peaceful Tudor-style home in a quiet part of north London. He’s made significant improvements to the London property since buying it in 2019.

The singer received approval last year to build a peaceful retreat in his garden, but with the condition that he isn’t allowed to sleep there.

When the outbuilding was approved, planners specified that it could only be used for activities related to the main house, not as a separate living space.

To be clear, this structure can’t be used for things normally done inside a home, like sleeping.

This is to make sure the development doesn’t negatively impact the area’s appearance or the quality of life for nearby residents.

The singer requested a secure wall and gates for their £4 million home, which upset The Highgate Society. They worried this would set a bad example for future building projects and that any changes to the underground water flow could negatively impact the area.

In May 2023, the musician reportedly had a disagreement with his neighbors about trees on his property that were leaning over onto theirs. He ended up having to cut the trees back, which was a difficult process because they were legally protected.

Liam’s life in his large home in Provence, about half an hour from the glamorous city of Cannes, hasn’t been entirely relaxing lately.

Soon after Liam purchased the £3 million house from Noel Edmonds, he employed Tom Ceze, an expatriate, to care for the large gardens. However, Tom claims their working relationship deteriorated last year, and he was fired without being given a reason.

Tom expressed his frustration on a local Facebook page, stating, ‘This is unacceptable! We’re in France and there are local regulations to follow… please be considerate and if you’re going to fire me, do it to my face.’

He later told the Mail: ‘I built my life around that job.’

Last April, just as I was getting ready to board a plane, his manager, Gemma, called and informed me that I was being fired, with no warning.

‘She didn’t provide any explanation; she just said they ‘don’t want you anymore’.

‘I’ve been trying to contact Liam to say that losing this job has really messed up my life.

I depended on that job, and now other wealthy people in the South of France are avoiding hiring me because they’re worried I’ll cause trouble.
