Beauty in Black changes its ending ahead of season 3.
This drama series, created by Tyler Perry, follows Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams), an exotic dancer, and Mallory Bellarie (Crystle Stewart), a successful businesswoman. Their paths cross, impacting the entire influential Bellarie family. The show has been renewed for a third and final season, set to air after December 2025, and Perry revealed that filming for this last season is already finished—though an exact release date hasn’t been announced.
Perry just announced on Netflix that the show will return for a fourth season, so it won’t end after season three as originally planned! He says there’s much more to tell about the Bellarie family – their story isn’t over yet – and he’s excited to continue exploring it. Here’s what he had to say:
Beauty in Black is returning for a fourth season, and the Bellarie family’s story will continue. I’m excited to have the opportunity to delve deeper into their lives, and I’m thankful for the continued support of our viewers. Thanks to everyone who has watched and shared the show – more episodes are coming soon!
While details about season 4 are still scarce, fans can enjoy it knowing there’s more story to tell. This renewal isn’t a finale – in fact, the series could potentially continue for even longer than originally planned.
The show has been very popular on Netflix. The first season stayed in the Global Top 10 for seven weeks, hitting number one in 28 different countries. Season two, Beauty in Black, continued this success, remaining in the Global Top 10 for six weeks and reaching the top spot in 17 countries.
The show hasn’t received an official critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes yet, but viewers seem to like it, giving it an overall score of 72%, which Rotten Tomatoes considers positive. The first season earned a 61% audience score from over 250 people, and the second season did even better with an 83% score based on over 100 ratings.
Season 3 of Beauty in Black picks up after the dramatic events of season 2. Now that Kimmie is officially part of the Bellarie family, things quickly become complicated when a dangerous conflict breaks out within the family itself. She’s forced to team up with Mallory, and together they must deal with blackmail, seek revenge, and uncover long-held secrets as the family fights amongst themselves – potentially destroying everything they’ve built.
Perry not only created the series Beauty in Black, but also directs every episode, writes the scripts, and serves as an executive producer. The show stars Polidore Williams as Kimmie and Stewart as Mallory, along with Amber Reign Smith as Rain, Xavier Smalls as Angel, Rico Ross as Horace Bellarie, Julian Horton as Roy Bellarie, Steven G. Norfleet as Charles Bellarie, Richard Lawson as Norman Bellarie, Terrell Carter as Varney, Bryan Tanaka as Officer Alex, Charles Malik Whitfield as Jules, and Debbie Morgan as Olivia Bellarie. Angi Bones and Tony Strickland produce the show for Tyler Perry Studios.
Beauty in Black seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix.
