Coronation Street’s Sean Wilson is married.
The actor, 61, best known for playing Martin Platt on the ITV soap Coronation Street from 1985 to 2005 with a return visit in 2018, recently married Carol in a wedding held in the countryside.
Oh my gosh, did you SEE the wedding photos?! Sean looked SO handsome in that dark blue suit, but that orange waistcoat? A stroke of genius! And Carol… well, she was absolutely breathtaking in her white dress. Seriously, a total vision! I’ve been screenshotting everything, obviously.
A photo captured the joyful couple sharing a kiss in front of a church. The bride held a beautiful bouquet of sunflowers, white flowers, greenery, and delicate blue details.
Sean and Carol, a couple who’d been dating since 2019, looked incredibly happy in a third photo, sitting in the back of a classic cream-colored car.
Okay, let me tell you about the most magical weekend! Our cheesemaker friend just got married in July, and it sounds absolutely dreamy. He shared that he finally married his amazing wife, Mrs. Wilson, and the whole celebration was just perfect. They had a gospel choir filling the church with music, and surrounded themselves with the most wonderful, genuine friends. He said if he could relive it all, he wouldn’t change a single thing – and honestly, that’s the sign of a truly special day, isn’t it? So much love and happiness!
People quickly filled the post’s comment section with congratulations for the happy couple. One fan wrote, ‘Congratulations Mr and Mrs Wilson! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness.’
Another fan wrote, “Congratulations! You two look wonderful. I hope you had a lovely wedding.”
And a third follower wrote: ‘Wonderful, happy news.. congratulations (sic).’
Sean will be back on Coronation Street in 2024, reprising his role as Martin Platt. His return coincides with Helen Worth’s character, Gail Platt, leaving the show on Christmas Day (December 25th), allowing the former on-screen couple to share one last scene together. Sean previously dated actress Susie Fenwick.
Unfortunately, the original story had to be changed because of a false accusation of sexual assault. As a result, the storyline was rewritten, and Gail ended up moving to France with her husband, Jesse Chadwick.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! So, back in January 2025, the Daily Star actually asked him about it – can you imagine?! And he totally said, completely casually, ‘I didn’t even bother watching. I was having Christmas in Africa!’ Like, Africa! It’s just… everything about that answer is perfect. Seriously, I replay it in my head all the time.
‘I’m trying to get back to normal. It’s a case of taking each day at a time.’
Sean’s worried about how leaving Coronation Street so suddenly might impact his future work as an actor.
He said: ‘We are hoping everything that’s happened won’t affect my career.
My agent and I are actively seeking consistent, ongoing projects. We’re getting back on track and figuring things out as we go.
I don’t create opportunities; I simply respond to what comes my way. As an actor, I consider offers when they are presented through my agent.
Following his time on Coronation Street, Sean pursued a new career making cheese. He started a business called Artisan Farm in 2009 and later became an author of several recipe books.
He was a major presence on the soap opera from 1983 to 2013, made a quick appearance in 2018, and has largely stayed out of the public eye since then.
