DC Studios Unveils Official Trailer for Body Horror Thriller ‘Clayface’

Summary

DC Studios and Warner Bros. are giving fans a first look at ‘Clayface,’ their new horror thriller. The film features Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, an actor whose appearance is altered, and an experimental treatment transforms him into a frightening creature. Directed by James Watkins and co-written by Mike Flanagan, ‘Clayface’ will hit theaters this October.

DC Studios and Warner Bros. just released the first trailer for Clayface before its debut at San Diego Comic-Con. This new movie signals a shift towards more intense, frightening visuals – specifically body horror – in the reimagined superhero world being created by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Directed by James Watkins (known for Speak No Evil), and co-written by horror expert Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, this film follows Matt Hagen (Tom Rhys Harries), a promising actor from Gotham City. After a violent attack leaves him severely disfigured, Hagen seeks out a revolutionary medical treatment to fix his appearance. But the procedure goes wrong, drastically altering both his body and mind, and sending him on a dark journey of vengeance.

The film was made with Matt Reeves and 6th & Idaho Productions, and stars Naomi Ackie as Dr. Caitlin Bates, along with David Dencik, Max Minghella, and Eddie Marsan. It’s a lean, disturbing movie that focuses on psychological horror instead of typical superhero elements, offering a realistic look at themes like loss, striving for success, and how ambition can change who you are.

The movie Clayface will be released in North American theaters and IMAX on October 23, 2026. It will begin showing in international locations two days earlier, on October 21, 2026, and is being distributed by Warner Bros.
