Universal Pictures and Blumhouse just released the trailer for their new psychological horror movie, Other Mommy. The creepy preview shows Oscar-winning actress Jessica Chastain playing two parts: a mother and a terrifying, otherworldly version of herself.
Okay, so I just heard about this new horror movie and it sounds seriously creepy! It’s directed by Rob Savage – the guy who did Host and The Boogeyman, so you know it’s gonna be intense. The script is by a writer from Succession, which is wild. Apparently, it’s based on a really good book called Incidents Around the House. And get this: James Wan (the horror legend!) is producing through his Blumhouse Atomic Monster label. Basically, it’s about this little girl, Bela, and something terrifying starts coming out of her closet…and it looks like her mom! Sounds like a nightmare fuel to me.
Jessica Chastain plays the father of the main character, Bela, alongside Jay Duplass. The film also features Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed, and Karen Allen. The preview shows Chastain returning to horror – a genre she’s proven herself in with films like Mama and It Chapter Two – and expertly mixes everyday family struggles with intense supernatural fear.
Other Mommy officially arrives in theaters on October 9, 2026, via Universal Pictures.
