Pat McAfee knows just what the world needs in 2026.
More Pat McAfee.
Pat McAfee, formerly the punter and kicker for the Indianapolis Colts, is now incredibly busy. He hosts a daily show on ESPN, appears as an analyst on “College GameDay” and other network programs, previously worked with WWE, and hosts several podcasts.
Despite his success as a professional football player, Nnamdi McAfee hasn’t yet put out an album featuring music he wrote and performed all on his own.
That situation will be rectified in a matter of weeks.

Pat McAfee shared on his ESPN show that he’s been instructed to stop discussing WNBA star Caitlin Clark, reportedly after he used a derogatory term to refer to her. He claims this guidance came from a higher power – specifically, ‘God’ and ‘the universe’.
Rapper McAfee said he’s releasing his first album, “The Diary of a Polarizing Figure,” on August 14th. The album features a collaboration with country artist Ernest.
John McAfee announced a new project on X (formerly Twitter), explaining that he’s been the target of hatred throughout his life. He said he’s written songs about this for two decades and now wants to share them, hoping to set the record straight and ensure his children understand who he truly was if something were to happen to him.
Despite having some critics, it’s notable that McAfee is releasing an album about them. This seems ironic given reports that he’s negotiating a new ESPN deal worth over $60 million annually – suggesting he’s currently very popular and in high demand.
Some people online have questioned the timing of McAfee’s recent announcement, noting it came shortly after layoffs at ESPN, where he works. McAfee acknowledged one of these criticisms on X (formerly Twitter), responding with a cryptic post referencing his own controversial public image.

Most of the cuts announced Tuesday are tied to ESPN’s acquisition of the NFL Network.
He explained on Wednesday’s “The Pat McAfee Show” that he’s been dealing with negativity for a long time, even going back to elementary school. He said people are talking about him now, and he plans to address it through his music, as similar situations have happened throughout his life – often because he’s perceived as being too outgoing.
I was really excited to hear that in December, Chase McAfee dropped a new country-rock track called “Dookie,” and he actually co-wrote it with Ernest! The announcement mentioned it kicked off what sounds like a great partnership between McAfee and the labels DeVille Records and Big Loud Records – definitely one to watch for more music from him.
Ernest recently shared with Whiskey Riff that he and McAfee had collaborated on around eight or nine songs.
Ernest believes Pat McAfee’s music is perfect for EA Sports games, describing it as the kind of energetic music you’d hear getting players pumped up in a locker room.

Okay, so I’m a big sports and music fan, and apparently, Pat McAfee really rubbed John Mellencamp the wrong way at the Knicks-Pacers game last night. From what I’ve gathered, McAfee’s behavior at the game bothered Mellencamp, and it looks like things got a little tense.
You see a lot of athletes try their hand at music – some do really well, others not so much. But it’s funny, we don’t often see sports broadcasters go the other way! John Tesh is probably the most famous example; after working for CBS and NBC covering sports in the 80s, he really made a name for himself with his music.
If McAfee is looking for advice from someone who understands pressure and public life, he could turn to Terry Bradshaw. Bradshaw isn’t just a four-time Super Bowl winner and football analyst—he’s also a musician who even had a top 10 country song back in the 1970s with his version of “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.”
I was amazed to hear John McAfee reveal that he actually crafted everything – all of his writings – over the past two decades, right there in the notes app on his phone! It’s incredible to think about how he kept it all organized that way.
He shared that the project was deeply personal, adding he’s really enjoyed discovering his voice as a singer – calling it ‘a blast.’ He also expressed immense gratitude to everyone in Nashville who supported him and helped bring everything together.
