The main characters from Scrubs – Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, and Donald Faison – will be joined by new series regulars in the second season of the show’s reboot. A significant update to the cast has been announced.
With filming now underway on the new season, Ava Bunn has been promoted to a series regular role on the Scrubs revival (according to Deadline). She plays Dr. Sam Tosh, a medical intern who works alongside Zach Braff’s J.D. and often turns to social media for solutions.
Viewers can expect to see Rachel Bilson (as Charlie) and Neil Flynn, known for his role as The Janitor on the original Scrubs, appear frequently in the new season. This season will actually be the tenth overall, continuing the show’s story.
Judy Reyes and John C. McGinley, both original cast members, will return to reprise their roles as Carla Espinosa and Perry Cox, though they will appear in multiple episodes rather than as series regulars.
The second season will bring back Sam’s colleagues from medical school: Asher Green, played by Jacob Dudman; Blake Lewis, played by David Gridley; Amara Hadi, played by Layla Mohammadi; and Dashana Trainor, played by Amanda Morrow.
