Bradley Walsh, known for hosting The Chase, has volunteered to appear in the upcoming TV adaptation of Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall’s novel, Death at the White Hart. The book, a murder mystery published last March, centers on DCI Nicola Bridge who returns to her hometown in Dorset to investigate the death of a pub owner.
Before the book is even published in 2025, ITV has already ordered a TV series based on it. Chris Chibnall’s friend and colleague, Walsh, jokingly suggested he’d like to be considered for a part in the show.
On Monday evening at a book signing in London’s Waterstones Piccadilly, Bradley directly asked Chris Chibnall if he could be in Doctor Who, and the showrunner already knows which characters he’d like to see him play.
Bradley Walsh jokingly wondered if he could play the role of Mel, saying he enjoyed the character and felt he understood people like her.

As the series is in its early stages, Chibnall promised to consider his friend’s offer.
“I’ll have a good think about it,” he said.
If the pair collaborate on Death at the White Hart, it would be Walsh’s return to acting following his role as Pop Larkin in the ITV series The Larkins. That show, co-starring Joanna Scanlan, ran for two seasons with 13 episodes in total and finished in 2022.
Before appearing in The Larkins, Walsh was known for his part as Graham O’Brien in Russell T Davies’ Doctor Who. He later returned to the role for the BBC’s special celebrating 100 years of broadcasting, ‘The Power of the Doctor’, which aired in 2022.
The host also acted in and helped produce the show Law & Order: UK, playing Detective Sergeant Ronnie Brooks. Before that, from 2004 to 2006, he was a regular on the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, appearing in almost 400 episodes as Danny Baldwin.
Bradley Walsh was a professional footballer before becoming a popular TV host. He currently presents shows like The Chase, Beat the Chasers, Blankety Blank, and Gladiators.
