This happened after the Avengers time-traveled in Endgame following the Battle of New York, allowing him to break free from captivity.

It quickly becomes clear that this organization is the Time Variance Authority, or TVA. The TVA captures anyone who creates a different version of events from what they consider the ‘correct’ timeline, and eliminates them to maintain their preferred flow of time. Later, the show reveals that Kang is the one pulling the strings at the TVA, and the story gets even more complex in the second season.
Okay, so Kang’s plans are shifting within the MCU, but honestly, Loki still feels incredibly important. The first two seasons really set him up as a key player in this whole Multiverse Saga, and it definitely positions him for something big leading into Avengers: Doomsday. That’s why it makes total sense he’s back! If you’re planning on seeing Doomsday, though, I’d seriously recommend a rewatch of Loki first – it’ll give you a lot of context.
WandaVision Could Also Be Worth A Revisit
Besides Loki, WandaVision stands out as another crucial project within the Multiverse Saga. The series explores the heartbreaking aftermath of Vision’s death for Wanda Maximoff and does a fantastic job of laying the groundwork for the concept of the Multiverse.
Although it doesn’t play as big a role as it seems in Avengers: Doomsday, and Loki already does a great job of explaining the Multiverse, WandaVision is still worth watching if you want the full story. It might even make you even more excited for Avengers: Doomsday later on.
