The first season of the reality-quiz show Nobody’s Fool, hosted by Danny Dyer and Emily Atack, has come to an end with a dramatic finale. Kamaal, a 25-year-old financial analyst, won the competition on Monday night (June 1st), beating journalist Harry to claim the prize money. Viewers at home reacted just as strongly as the contestants during the weeks of secret quizzes, strategic voting, and intense house dynamics.
While people cheered his victory, Kamaal shared that his mother had a particularly striking reaction – she fainted! He explained that this wasn’t unusual, as his mother is known for her big, expressive emotions.
Honestly, sharing that moment with my family just hit me – it finally sunk in what I’d actually done. I’d been keeping it quiet since summer 2025, so it was a huge relief to finally let it all out and celebrate with them.

It felt incredibly unreal when I won, so it didn’t really sink in until I saw my mum’s reaction – I had to pick her up she was so happy! My dad was much calmer; I don’t think he even stopped drinking his tea, actually.
Filmed at Knowlton Court in Kent, the show brought together 10 contestants who lived in a house nicknamed “Smart House.” They teamed up to answer trivia questions and compete for a prize of up to £10,000.

But Nobody’s Fool had a surprising element: contestants didn’t just compete based on quiz answers. They also frequently had to eliminate other housemates, judging them on how smart they seemed.
This shifted the focus so that how players were seen mattered as much as what they knew, requiring them to carefully control their image during the contest. The group of competitors included people from all walks of life, like Ella, a waitress, Parissa, a social media influencer, and Billy, who claimed to have psychic abilities.

Kamaal wanted to make a good first impression on the show. He often wore glasses and subtly worked to be seen as one of the most intelligent contestants. He later revealed there was a specific reason behind his decision to wear them.
Kamaal reflected on how getting a good start on the show helped him relax. He laughed watching old footage of himself shedding his initial, self-conscious persona. ‘I took off my glasses and started showing more of my personality,’ he explained, ‘but I put the glasses back on for the final round – I wanted every advantage I could get.’
Kamaal became skilled at navigating the social dynamics of the competition, but he revealed his greatest hurdle wasn’t winning over the other players—it was believing in himself. The winner explained he’d battled feelings of inadequacy throughout his life and initially wondered if he was worthy of being on a show that celebrated intelligence.

Honestly, I’ve always battled feeling like a fraud, so when I got invited to test out this ‘smart house,’ my first thought was, ‘Why me?’ I mean, am I smart enough to even be here? The first few challenges were rough, and I really started to doubt myself. I’m usually my own worst enemy, and I was just mortified at the thought of making a fool of myself.
Watching the competition unfold, it was amazing to see Kamaal really come into his own. He just got stronger and more confident with every round! But the final was tough – he ended up facing Harry, who he’d become really good friends with on set. It was a bittersweet match, seeing those two go head-to-head.
Looking back, Kamaal regretted celebrating his win in front of Harry, particularly because he knew Harry was saving the prize money for his wedding. However, despite being disappointed, Harry immediately congratulated Kamaal, and Kamaal maintains they remain friends with no lingering animosity.
He was glad to hear I was happy, and I plan to get him a gift from our wedding registry to return the favor.
Now that a winner has been crowned, Nobody’s Fool finished its first season strongly. However, it’s still unclear if the show will be back for another season, as ITV hasn’t made any announcements yet.
Nobody’s Fool can be streamed on ITVX.
