Spirits of Aetheria is a new anime-inspired MMORPG created by NEOCRAFT LIMITED. It’s currently in soft launch and is already gaining popularity among mobile gamers. The game combines exciting, quick combat with the fun of collecting creatures. Players can explore a colorful and inviting world, battling with magical companions using a special three-character rotation system.
The game begins with six core classes to choose from: Paladin, Mage, Oracle, Gunner, Assassin, and Ranger. However, the skill system is flexible, letting you move beyond these initial choices. You’re not locked into a single class, and can combine skills to build a character that fits your playstyle, creating powerful combinations.
This guide will give you a clear look at what each class does well and where it struggles. I’ve put together a tier list to help you choose the best class to start with, based on how you like to play. Before you get started, be sure to check out the Beginner’s Guide and see if there are any Redeem Codes you can use!
Spirits of Aetheria Class Tier List
| Tier | Classes | Playstyle Strength |
|---|---|---|
| Strong (S) | Mage, Assassin | Elite area damage and unmatched single-target burst |
| Good (A) | Paladin, Ranger | Incredible frontline survivability and safe, consistent ranged DPS |
| Average (B) | Gunner, Oracle | High sustained damage and vital team support capabilities |
S-Tier Classes: The Current Meta Kings
Mage
The Mage is currently one of the strongest classes in the game. If you enjoy dealing a lot of damage to multiple enemies at once, you’ll likely enjoy playing this class. In busy dungeons, a Mage can quickly eliminate large groups of enemies.
The skill system lets you combine ice attacks to freeze enemies and fire attacks to quickly defeat them. While it takes careful movement and strategy, the damage you can deal is incredibly powerful.
Assassin
If you want to quickly eliminate bosses, the Assassin class is a great pick. It’s built for dealing massive critical damage and moving around the battlefield quickly. I especially enjoyed playing as the Assassin when facing challenging bosses, as it felt very effective.
This character excels at quick, surprising attacks – disappearing into the shadows, teleporting, and then hitting enemies with powerful combos. However, they’re fragile, so staying alive depends on skillfully using their defensive abilities.
A-Tier Classes: Highly Reliable and Safe
Paladin
The Paladin is the best class for players who want to be tough and protect their allies. It has the most health and natural defense of any class, making it incredibly hard to take down, and perfect if you prefer not to be the one needing rescue.
Playing the Paladin felt incredibly strong – I could withstand powerful attacks from bosses that would immediately defeat other classes like the Mage. Although it takes a little longer to defeat enemies on your own, the Paladin is essential for any team tackling challenging dungeons.
Ranger
The Ranger is the safest class to play in the game. It’s highly mobile and excels at keeping enemies at a distance. You can constantly move and fire arrows, making it hard for opponents to catch you.
If you’re new to the game and having trouble learning boss attacks, I strongly suggest playing as the Ranger. It lets you deal consistent damage while safely avoiding all harm.
B-Tier Classes: Balanced and Situational
Gunner
The Gunner is a ranged attacker who specializes in dealing consistent, high damage. Unlike faster-moving characters, the Gunner relies on powerful weapons and strategically placed mechanical traps to control the battlefield.
Okay, so this weapon hits really hard, but it’s super slow and clunky. If a boss decides you’re the target, getting out of the way is a nightmare. Honestly, it’s best when I’m playing with a Paladin who can keep the boss busy – that’s when this thing really shines. It’s all about having someone else draw the aggro!
Oracle
Don’t underestimate the Oracle just because it’s considered B-Tier. It’s a vital support class, offering powerful healing, protective shields, and boosts to allies’ attacks.
This class is ranked in B-Tier mainly because leveling up on your own can be a bit slow. It takes more time to beat bosses in the story mode compared to classes like Mage or Assassin. But, you’ll almost always be immediately asked to join other players’ teams when you play this role.
Tips for Creating Hybrid Builds
Honestly, the game really opened up for me when I started messing around with the skill tree. You don’t have to build your character in the usual ways, which is awesome. I’ve been experimenting, and I wanted to share a few character builds I’ve found that are surprisingly powerful.
- The Tanky Brawler: Start as a Paladin, but invest points into Assassin critical skills. This allows you to absorb hits while retaliating with surprising burst damage.
- The Crowd-Control Ranger: Combine the Ranger’s long-range attacks with the Mage’s frost control skills. You can slow down enemies from afar, making it impossible for them ever to reach you.
Final Thoughts
In Spirits of Aetheria, every character class can be incredibly strong with the right build. The game’s skill system is designed to let you try out different approaches and find what works best. For maximum damage, the Mage and Assassin are excellent choices. If you’d like a more relaxed and easier experience, the Paladin and Ranger are great options.
Concentrate on improving the skills you enjoy and combining them with a well-rounded set of three Spirit abilities. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your setup as you discover new equipment, and I’ll meet you in battle!
