Matt Brown, known for appearing on the Discovery Channel show “Alaskan Bush People” with his family, was found dead in the Okanogan River in Washington state on Sunday, according to police.
The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office reported that Brown’s body was found on Saturday by a group of people searching the area.
Bear Brown, brother of the deceased, shared in a social media video on Saturday that their brother, Noah, was part of the search team. Noah helped recover the body from the river and confirmed the identification.
The sheriff’s office stated the coroner is still investigating how and why Matt Brown died. However, in a video, Bear Brown said his family believes Matt took his own life.

I was really shocked to hear the news. Apparently, people saw my brother, Matt, by the river, and Bear shared online that it looks like he tragically took his own life. It’s just… unbelievable.
Bear Brown shared in a heartfelt video that he was shocked to learn of the injury, saying, ‘Honestly, I never would have thought he’d do that.’ He also explained that the person had been dealing with difficulties for quite some time.
As a longtime viewer of ‘Alaskan Bush People’, it was heartbreaking to hear Bear Brown talk about his brother Matt’s struggles. Apparently, Matt had a history with alcohol and drugs, and in their last conversation, he confided in Bear that he’d relapsed – he’d ‘fallen off the wagon,’ as Bear put it. It’s just really sad to think about what he was going through.
From 2014 to 2022, the Discovery Channel aired “Alaskan Bush People,” a reality show following the Brown family as they lived in the Alaskan wilderness.
