Music manager Scooter Braun has publicly supported Spencer Pratt’s campaign for mayor of Los Angeles, which has drawn controversy. This comes as rumors continue about Spencer’s girlfriend, actress Sydney Sweeney, potentially having connections to the MAGA movement.

I have to say, I’m really surprised, but also impressed, to see Spencer Pratt jumping into the political arena! He’s always been a bit of a wildcard, but now he’s challenging Karen Bass, and it’s shaking things up before the primary even really gets going. It’s definitely an unexpected twist!

Justin Bieber’s ex-manager, 44, recently shared his opinion on a political debate during an interview on the Second Thought podcast, and it seems he supports Chris Pratt.

I generally keep my votes private. I consider myself a moderate, and I often vote for candidates from both parties. What I admire about Spencer Pratt is that he’s raising important issues that others haven’t, and I think he’s voicing the concerns of many people who are frustrated and want straightforward, practical solutions.

He added. ‘It’s very interesting to watch. I think it’s very possible he can win.’

Braun’s statements have brought renewed focus to the debate around his girlfriend, Sweeney, and her political views, which have drawn criticism due to claims she leans conservative.

Actress Sydney Sweeney faced public scrutiny when it was revealed she was a registered Republican. Former President Donald Trump later publicly acknowledged and praised her.

Some on the left strongly criticized Sydney Sweeney’s advertising campaign for American Eagle, which used the slogan ‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Genes.’ Critics online claimed the ad subtly promoted ideas linked to eugenics and far-right ideologies.

People had been speculating about her political views since 2022, pointing to things like mentions of her family’s conservative beliefs and a popular photo from her mother’s 60th birthday party, which had a ‘Make Sixty Great Again’ theme.

The strong negative reaction caused some people to call the actress a ‘MAGA Barbie,’ even though she has said many times that she doesn’t involve herself in politics.

As Sweeney’s relationship with Braun grows more serious privately, speculation about her potential political ambitions is also increasing.

Sources say the couple started dating in September 2025. They initially met at the extravagant wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez in Venice.

Eric Braunn has three children with his former wife, Yael Cohen. Meanwhile, Jason Sudeikis was once engaged to Jonathan Davino, but they ended their engagement in March 2025.

During the Second Thought podcast, Braun also surprisingly revealed something about Taylor Swift while discussing their ongoing disagreement regarding the ownership of her early music.

In May 2025, Taylor Swift announced she had regained ownership of her original recordings. These rights had been sold in 2020 to Shamrock Capital through Scooter Braun’s company, but she successfully bought them back a year later.

After facing strong criticism, Braun acknowledged a dramatic shift in public perception – he went from being widely liked and respected for ten years to being seen as a villain overnight.

The music executive also stated that reports of a disagreement between them had been greatly overstated.

Scott Braun said he’s only met Taylor Swift a few times, but they’ve never really talked in any meaningful way.

 

I remember meeting Taylor Swift at a party years ago, and we really connected – there was a definite mutual respect between us. Honestly, the whole situation surrounding that time is still a bit of a mystery to me, and I genuinely hope she continues to thrive and do amazing things. I always wish her the very best.

However, Braun said the controversy ultimately taught him ‘a tremendous amount.’

The record executive went on to explain that a lot of people mistakenly believe they had a long-standing relationship, a rivalry, and that he used to manage her for a long time.

People are always surprised to learn that I didn’t actually know her well, and we didn’t spend much time together.

Braun also stated he’d only spoken to the singer of “Bad Blood” one time, and that the conversation was brief, lasting only a few minutes.

For the three years before we purchased Big Machine Records, Taylor and I didn’t speak at all. It was probably closer to two years, actually.

Honestly, I still can’t believe this whole thing happened, let alone that it’s become a part of his life – it’s so wild! But thankfully, he seems to be doing so much better now, and is actually looking forward instead of dwelling on everything. It’s such a relief to see him in a good place!
