As a huge action movie fan, I’m really excited about Jason Statham’s new film! He’s become such a go-to guy for awesome action, and we’re finally getting a first look at his latest thriller. They just dropped a new sneak peek, and it looks like he’s back doing what he does best – kicking butt on the big screen this summer!
A new photo of Jason Statham in his latest action role was recently released. The image shows him on a ship, holding a handgun and wearing a denim jacket and cap labeled “KMG.” The movie appears to be set on a cargo ship, and based on early glimpses of various weapons, it’s likely to be filled with intense action and many casualties. Jason Statham Is Officially Back in Action
In the action thriller Mutiny, Cole Reed (Jason Statham) finds himself on the run after being wrongly accused of murdering his wealthy employer. He sets out on a dangerous journey for revenge, but soon uncovers a much larger international plot.
Jean-François Richet, known for directing Plane, helms Mutiny, a film written by Lindsay Michel and J. P. Davis. The movie stars Jason Statham alongside Annabelle Wallis (from X-Men: First Class), Jason Wong (Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant), Roland Møller (Atomic Blonde), Arnas Federavicius, and Adrian Lester (Mary Queen of Scots). Statham also produces the film with Marc Butan.
When acquiring the film, Lauren Bixby of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group stated they were excited to work with Jason Statham, one of the most dynamic action stars, and reunite with Jean-François and the team at MadRiver, who they previously collaborated with on Plane. They anticipate the same creative spark this time around.
Jason Statham Returns to the Big Screen This Summer
Mutiny continues Jason Statham’s working relationship with Lionsgate. He’s previously appeared in several of their popular franchises, including The Expendables, Transporter, and Crank, as well as films like Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre and The Bank Job. Statham is also well-known for his role in the Fast & Furious movies, including the spinoff Hobbs & Shaw with Dwayne Johnson in 2019, and he reprised his role in the 2023 film Fast X.
Jason Statham has continued to please action movie fans with recent films like The Beekeeper, A Working Man, and Shelter. He’s even faced off against massive sharks on screen! Following Mutiny, he’ll return in a sequel to The Beekeeper, scheduled for release next year. Plus, he’s starring in a new action thriller called Viva La Madness, co-written and directed by Guy Ritchie.
Mutiny will be released in movie theaters on Aug. 21, 2026.
