Denise Richards and Casper Van Dien reunite 29 years after their sci-fi film Starship Troopers

Denise Richards reunited with her former onscreen leading man Casper Van Dien this week.

The actress, 55, recently reprised a famous role and posted a video with Van Dien, 57, on Instagram this Tuesday.

The actors were sitting in a car on the set of Damian Lee’s new movie, Key To Freedom, which was filmed in Hamilton, Ontario.

The actress, originally from Illinois, shared in a video that she and a co-star were working together again after many years – a reunion since they last appeared in the movie Starship Troopers. She playfully avoided revealing exactly how long ago that was.

Van Dien jokingly said it happened ‘a couple of days ago,’ adding they were both young at the time. Richards agreed, clarifying it was ‘a few years ago.’

The actor, who was 28 when he worked with 26-year-old Richards in 1997, reflected on their youth, saying, ‘We were both so young then. I felt older even back then, and we’re still relatively young now.’

While on location near Toronto, Richards playfully remarked, ‘I like THESE Canadians,’ in what appeared to be a lighthearted jab at her soon-to-be ex-husband, Aaron Phypers, 53, as they navigate their divorce.

Van Dien posted two comments on the post, one of which said, ‘I’m so glad we’re working together again. You’re the best!’

In another note, he dropped a string of red heart emojis.

Their old co-star, Jake Busey, also responded to the video, enthusiastically commenting, ‘Wow! You both look exactly the same! It’s great to see you working together again!’

In January 2018, Richards discussed her role as Carmen in the science fiction film Starship Troopers, which was directed by Paul Verhoeven, in an interview with The Guardian.

She expressed her affection for her character, noting that fans seemed to enjoy seeing a strong female lead. She wasn’t aware of any negative feedback regarding the character’s romantic choices at the time.

She expressed her enthusiasm for working with Paul Verhoeven again, describing him as delightfully eccentric.
