Keeley Hawes’ returning thriller branded “terrific fun” confirms new cast additions with first look

Prime Video’s thrilling series, The Assassin, starring Keeley Hawes, has revealed the new actors joining the show for its second season. Plus, fans can now get a sneak peek with some recently released photos.

Marianne Hawes, recently starring in Channel 4’s Falling (from the creator of Adolescence, Jack Thorne), will return as Julie Green. Freddie Highmore will reprise his role as her son, Edward. Shalom Brune-Franklin, known for The Tourist and Our Girl, and Devon Terrell as Ezra, will also be back for the new season.

The cast is expanding with the addition of Arnaud Binard (known for Emily in Paris and Modern Family), Natalia Tena (Riot Women), Boris Van Severen (Baptiste), Jacqueline Boatswain (After The Flood), and Monic Hendrickx.

Season two of The Assassin will introduce some new faces. Julie will encounter a charming Frenchman, and viewers will meet Inspector Cortez, a clever Spanish detective whose intelligence and drive make him a force to be reckoned with.

Prime Video also shared some initial photos from the new season of the spy thriller, which you can find below.

This series comes from the writers of the acclaimed BBC crime dramas The Missing and its sequel, Baptiste – award-winning duo Harry and Jack Williams.

I checked out a review on Screen Rant (through Rotten Tomatoes) for The Assassin, and they said it’s a really cool spy thriller that takes you all over the world. The heart of the story is this complicated relationship between a mom and her son. It wasn’t perfect, but I actually found myself really getting into the story and all its layers.

According to the Irish Independent, The Assassin is a really enjoyable film. It’s fast-paced, jumping between locations like Albania, Libya, and London, and features plenty of surprising plot twists and a large cast of suspicious characters.

The Assassin season 2 is expected to arrive on Prime Video in 2026.
