Kirsty Gallacher was able to drive again on Thursday morning after completing a six-month driving ban. The ban was related to speeding and marked her fifth driving offense in the past eight years.
On April 1, 2025, the presenter received a speeding ticket after a speed camera caught her driving 35mph in a 30mph zone near her home in Maidens Green, Berkshire.
Fifty-year-old Gallacher admitted to speeding in October at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court. However, she challenged the resulting driving ban, explaining that she needs to drive her teenage sons, get medical treatment for a non-cancerous brain tumor, and get to work.
On Thursday, she was back on the road, driving her £55,000 Tesla through the Berkshire countryside at a much slower pace.
Gallacher has been convicted of speeding three times before. In 2017, she was also caught driving dangerously and was found to have nearly three times the legal amount of alcohol in her system.
A breathalyzer test showed she had a blood alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit. Her reading was 106 micrograms of alcohol per 100 milliliters of breath, while the legal limit is 35.
At the time, she told the court that she had driven the morning after drinking the previous night.
In Slough Magistrates’ Court, she admitted her guilt and received a two-year driving ban. She was also sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid community service and told to cover court fees and a surcharge for the victim.
In October, Gallacher explained to the court that she was unable to pay for transportation like a taxi or private driver because she’s the only one financially supporting her two children.
The radio presenter makes £150,000 annually from her work at Gold Radio and has approximately £80,000 saved.
Judge Arvind Sharma acknowledged it would be more challenging for her, but assured her those difficulties were surmountable.
I disagree that your son requires a daily ride, especially since you have enough savings to comfortably cover taxi fares for him and the rest of the family.
She was also fined a total of £1,044 for the offence.
Gallacher spoke to the Daily Mail exclusively at the time and said that the decision was a ‘shock’.
She expressed feeling unsupported and overwhelmed, saying she feels like a typical mother juggling many responsibilities. She also mentioned her health is a concern and will make things even harder.
She already had nine points on her driving record from three earlier speeding tickets issued on September 9, 2023, August 3, and August 9, 2024.
The court heard that the speed was recorded by manned enforcement equipment.
I’m really concerned about Isla Gallacher. She’s been dealing with a non-cancerous brain tumor, and unfortunately, it’s caused hearing loss in one ear, plus she constantly experiences ringing in her ears – tinnitus, as the doctors call it. She’s been traveling to Oxford regularly for check-ups and aftercare since finishing radiotherapy, and I’m sending her all my support.
She explained that the public transportation options near her countryside home aren’t good enough to reliably get her youngest son to school or his activities, like golf. Her son is following in his grandfather’s footsteps – he was a professional golfer and even captained the Ryder Cup team.
You know, I always tell people I’m a pretty down-to-earth person, and that’s really how I am. It’s not about being above anything – honestly, I’ve used public transport just like everyone else. We all do it from time to time, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
As a longtime fan, I’ve always thought Kirsty Gallacher is incredibly self-sufficient and capable. Her representative, Sophia Dower, put it perfectly – Kirsty really is a one-woman-band, handling everything with grace and skill!
In court, Gallacher explained she has a non-cancerous brain tumor called an acoustic neuroma.
It’s growing quickly, and doctors have been watching it closely for the past three years. I’m currently undergoing radiation therapy.
We’re not sure if the radiotherapy will be effective, or if it will reduce the size of the tumor. We’ll have to wait and see how it goes.
