Mariah Carey was celebrated as MusiCare’s Person of the Year at a special event held Friday at the Los Angeles Convention Center, drawing a lot of attention.
The 56-year-old singer turned heads on the red carpet at the glamorous event, wearing a beautiful, floor-length black gown. The dress was sheer with a fitted, corset-style top and delicate floral details.
The singer, famous for “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” finished her outfit with sparkling diamond jewelry – a necklace, dangling earrings, and several bracelets. Her long, blonde hair flowed naturally down her back in loose waves.
Mariah was honored for both her incredible musical talent and her commitment to giving back. She also worked hard to raise money for organizations that support the health and wellness of people in the music industry.
According to MusiCares Executive Director Theresa Wolters, Mariah Carey’s impact goes beyond just her talent as an artist.
She regularly uses her influence to directly help communities, offering practical support after disasters, investing in young people, and creating opportunities for those who need them most.
The executive explained that her work perfectly represents MusiCares’ core principles: building support systems that help music professionals and their communities succeed.
Naming her Person of the Year recognizes not only her amazing music but also her commitment to helping people and making a positive impact on the world.
In addition to her singing career, the artist has also helped communities recover from both Hurricane Katrina and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mariah created Camp Mariah with the Fresh Air Fund to help kids from disadvantaged backgrounds, and she’s always worked to improve health, education, and social programs, showing her dedication to helping others.
Despite achieving incredible success, the music icon remains down-to-earth, always striving to improve and learn.
In an interview with Billboard, she explained that everyone interprets things differently. However, she doesn’t consider herself a legend, saying she’s simply still dedicated to her work and striving to improve.
She explained that she’s always been a dedicated worker, driven by her long-term goal of staying with the company.
The most important thing I’ve realized is to stay true to who you are. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to do that, even though things weren’t always perfect. But here I am now, and I’m okay with that.
The Grammy-winning artist was accompanied on the red carpet by many stars, including Charlie Puth, Jennifer Hudson, Becky G, John Legend, Kesha, Taylor Momsen, Adam Lambert, Dove Cameron, Stevie Wonder, and Gayle King.
Several of the A-list artists performed at the Gala as they honoured Mariah that evening.

For her performance, she changed into a bold outfit: a shimmering metallic and grey sheer dress paired with black, knee-high boots.
