The Perfect Skyrim Replacement Finally Arrives June 2

It’s not always simple being a fan of The Elder Scrolls these days. With Skyrim having been a massive hit 15 years ago, the series struggles to reach those same heights, even with The Elder Scrolls Online. It hasn’t quite recaptured the magic of Skyrim – or even Oblivion – so far.

Good news for RPG fans: even with the long wait for The Elder Scrolls VI, there are still plenty of great fantasy games to enjoy. Now, Fatekeeper is stepping up as a promising new option to fill the void.

Paraglacial’s Fatekeeper Is Set to Release on June 2

Though created by a small team of just 13 people, Fatekeeper isn’t aiming to be a massive, top-tier game like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. However, Paraglacial’s first game successfully evokes the feeling of adventure from the Skyrim experience, and could be a sign of exciting things to come.

The upcoming game, Fatekeeper, will enter Early Access on Windows PC on June 2, 2026. Published by THQ Nordic, it will be available through Steam, allowing players to try out the beginning of the game while the developers at Paraglacial continue to improve and add to it.

It’s inevitable that any epic fantasy RPG will be measured against Skyrim, but Fatekeeper‘s gameplay feels more similar to the PC version of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic than the Elder Scrolls series. Luckily, with the game releasing soon, fans won’t have to wait long to see how these comparisons play out.

The game Fatekeeper, as described on its website, is set in a carefully designed world that’s been built by hand.

Fatekeeper appears to prioritize exploration just as much as fighting. The developers at Paraglacial have hinted at a variety of different environments, suggesting the game will reward players for being curious and venturing off the beaten path, rather than just rushing from task to task. For fans of The Elder Scrolls series, this focus on discovery could be the game’s most appealing feature.

I’m really excited about Fatekeeper, but it’s important to remember it’s still in Early Access. That means it’s not the finished game yet! The developers, Paraglacial, have said they’re really listening to what players think, and our feedback will actually help them build the game we all want to see. So, while it might not be perfect right now, it has a lot of potential!

2026 is shaping up to be a great year for fans of fantasy RPGs where you play from a first-person perspective, and Fatekeeper looks like it could really help tide players over until then.
